That is stunning... one sort of wants to be outraged, or indignant... but about what? There's nothing "wrong" being done, and there doesn't seem to be any solution to the problem. It's amazing, but it's just the way things happen, I guess.

Much smaller scale at places I've worked is seeing product that must be destroyed. For example, a tile company I worked at would take annual inventory, then crush and destroy millions of dollars worth of product that was surplus or discontinued. If they sold it for cheap--- or gave it away--- the impact on future sales would be detrimental. Can't keep it, can't sell it, can't give it away... the only financially viable response is to destroy the product. And, that might be the final end for these cars.

Thanks, Rob3D! My RELIGION is based in Snopesish philosophy, but every now and then, I slip up, and get (at least briefly!) taken for a short ride without my skepticism kicking in first!
