7speed or auto? - Page 3

I believe few years ago BMW M3 came out with what was called A sequential transmission.
Supposely it has A clutch ,but only need it to start off.Then ya shift beers manually but without the clutch.I believe Indy cars have something like this but not sure.
Anyone care to touch on this?

Pretty much the only thing I didn't need to ponder when deciding what to order when I am finally called to actually place my order is the tranny................manual. An automatic Vette is like pizza without mozzarella.

I have the manual in my Z51 and also had a manual in my C6. Automatic transmissions have advanced in the last several years (I have the paddles in my CTS-V) I am 55 years old and did not even consider an automatic for my C7. It is just too much fun to drive with the manual and is part of the experience. It is not my every day driver - just for pure fun and enjoyment. I highly recommed the manual transmission. Easy to clutch, easy to shift. Supplements that V8 sound with the perfromance exhaust.

If you're talking Hyundai, Kia, or a VW Jetta (those and other brands that probably shouldn't even be mentioned in this forum), I'd say absolutely yes. However, when you're talking about a Camaro ZL1, Corvettes, and other "sports" type cars, the "manual transmission" may surprisingly be the bigger draw for resale. No facts to back that up, but just looking at the C7s my dealer has pushed out the door the last couple of months and what stock is currently available (no 7 speeds left and 5 with automatic that have been around for a while), those with a 7 speed disappear quickly and those with an Automatic, tend to linger. Just a local observation. Oklahoma City is not known for heavy traffic (our rush hour is usually just that... 1 hour) and we have a lot of open road around to enjoy a 7 speed manual.
