Your engine can shut off for a thousand different reasons with no notice at all. If you crash because the engine shut off, then you're just an idiot. Not like I've been driving for 20+ years or anything...this has happened to me before, engine stopped running. Hell, why weren't cars flying off the road at random when vehicles didnt even come with power steering. Now if the steering wheel locked, that's another story, that would suck. |

Toyota gas pedal sticking - found guilty because people can't figure out to keep their floor matts away from the gas Ford - anyone remember the Pinto just for starters Etc. Etc. etc. you get the picture. ALL Car companies have these issues and all of them have hid things from consumers at one point or another. GM just got caught and for whatever reason the media has decided to make it their lead story, blame it on a slow news day. It's the same issue with Pit Bulls, the media LOVES a good Pit Bull headline but all other dog issues are missing the dogs breed. We have a media problem, and until the public tells the media we want news, not their opinion or agenda, nothing will change.

I know where to come up with 35 million. Heck I could probably save GM 70 million. Just don't pay the executives their 2nd quarter bonus. Problem Solved.

I don't think the sheep had anything to do with that decision.

If only lawyers were held to same yardstick of perfection and foresight as Engineers are.
The world would be a better place. Sadly, a lawyer has to do more than just suck at what he does to get punished. In fact, if he REALLY sucks, he actually makes more money, since he bills by the hour. So if an issue could be settled to the client's favor in 2 hours by an average attorney, but in fact he screws up at each step, and ends up taking 40 hours to cause his client to lose, he makes far more money and is considered a hero.

For the Legal Beagles out there:
Do they report Win/Loss ratios for lawyers? Of course not. It Would Be Unethical. Or is that is that called Accountable?

If someone close to you thinks they can jump from rooftop to rooftop, no matter how awesome they are, and they fall, is it anyone's fault but their own or is the fault that the buildings are too far apart? Does it change if the guy who died jumping gives to charity or has a newborn? It doesn't matter whether they're close to you, a good person, or anything else. These people tragically died, but those deaths were more likely caused by heavy keychains filled with crap rather than poorly engineered cars. GM proved that the problem was not replicated with lightweight keychains. Regardless of who died, blame is going to be attributed to someone, and it's pretty easy to blame a faceless company and forget that nice people make life-threatening decisions every day.

Big company's on wall street choose PROFIT over doing the right thing all the time. It is a shame but ethics have gone out the window when money is involved. I think any company caught doing something like this need to be made an example of and pay thought the nose for it . I also think if there where people hurt or the potential for someone to get hurt because a company chooses to do the wrong thing. Criminal charges should be brought on all party's involved as well as personal fines . I think if big CEO and executives are help personally accountable for there action they may think twice about how they get that big bonus...

The goal is to make everything idiot proof.
What does that say about us? People have known it's stupid to put a huge amount of weight on an ignition switch for decades. Now, we are stupider. We expect to do dumb things without issues.
