The First Drive...
I brought her home Friday morning and had her tucked away in the garage by 11:00. Shortly there after it started raining. Up yours Mother Nature!
![]() The weather cleared up by noon and as tempting as it was to take her out, I did not. I wanted to wait for my wife to get off work cuz I didn't want the first drive to be without her. After supper, we took her out and put 150 miles on her during a nice leisurely evening drive to my parents' house and places beyond. The car performed flawlessly and stayed glued to the ground while carving corners on an 8 mile stretch of S-Curves and elevation changes called the Brandon Blacktop(V71/Freeman Ave/26th Ave), near Brandon, Iowa between Hwy 150/55th Street and D48/330th Street. This stretch of road was also repaved 2 years ago and is butter smooth. Perfect for some serious corner carving. My new C7, my wife beside me, the Brandon Blacktop, AND 33.3 mpg's... it doesn't get much better than that! LOVE this car!!! GRAND SLAM GM!!! GRAND SLAM!!!

The official order date was August 17, 2013. The car came in late yesterday afternoon and is now being prepped. How did the price protection work for you? My dealership first told me it would get a rebate from GM for the difference between the original price and the price increase and cut me a check. One problem I had with that was MD has a 6% sales tax meaning I would pay an additional $200 in tax if invoiced at the new price. I called Chevy which also called my dealer. I have not talked to my dealer since I called Chevy, and Chevy talked to my dealer, but Chevy told me, after talking to my dealer, I should be invoiced at the original price. We shall see when I go in to pay. Anyone else please share your experience on the Chevy Price Protection. Thanks, Richard |

Rich--- you should get the original price you were quoted.
If not, WALK AWAY. I can get you Supplier Pricing through my dealership here in Iowa. My original MSRP was $68k. Supplier Price $62k. After price increase, MSRP $71K, Supplier Price $65k. My dealership honored the Supplier Pricing and the original price of $62k. ANY dealership who doesn't honor their original agreement isn't worth their weight in rusted out Mustangs. ANY dealership who won't sell a C7 at Supplier Price to a GM Supplier and charges retail or above, isn't worth their weight in rusted out Challengers. Yes, I waited 5 months for my car, but I got a $6k discount. Couldn't drive it anyway in the winter. Worth the wait.

I am going to my dealer today. I think we shall work it out to my satisfaction. As you advised, I am ready to walk if necessary, but I hope it does not get to that point. My dealer says the price guarantee is good on my order as well as the $1,000 below MSRP. I just have to make sure - trust but verify. Becky says a dealer like hers (Rogers) should adjust the price up front at point of sale. My dealer wants to charge me the price increase and send me a rebate check when it has worked out the particulars with Chevy. The problem with this is that up front that add $3,200 to my financing, $200 to sales tax, and I have no guarantee the dealer shall actually send me the full $3,200. I talked to Chevy about this and its confirmed what Becky said. I had Chevy call my dealer to advise it accordingly. I talked to my dealer after the Chevy call to it, it appears it is still trying to figure things out, and it shall be interesting to see what happens when I come in today. I am hopeful it just does not have much experience in dealing with how to handle price increases and Chevy price guarantees such as on a C7. I would hate to think otherwise. However, I am expecting the best but prepared for the worst. The whole package with the extended warranties (7/70 and wheel & tire) comes to over $75,000, and so I can't imagine the dealer letting that kind of money just walk out the door. I am sure it shall all work out. Having worked in federal law enforcement, I learned from the best, and I can be persuasive. My dealer has an offer it cannot refuse, and I'll move heaven and earth to get my C7 right I'll keep you posted. Thanks for the advice and encouragement. |

DO NOT agree to them sending you the rebate check after they charge you the new price.
My dealership told me it's their problem getting their $3200 from GM, not mine and gave me my original agreement.

I just got back from the dealership. We worked out a compromise where I don't lose any money, I think. Under other circumstances I would have walked away, but I saw and touched my baby for the first time, my heart melted, and there was no way anyone else was going to get my baby, and yes, it was at risk. My dealer made it clear to me that as soon as it came in it attracted interest from buyers that saw it and where willing to pay MSRP for it.
My dealer insisted on first getting the price protection money back from GM before I get the financial benefit. It did sign a note that I would get the buyer protection money back within 30 days. I would have preferred that this be done up front, but it is what it is. In some fairness to my dealer, and Becky shall have to enlighten us, my dealer showed me a reimbursement from GM where it gave a guy a $3,200 credit, but did not get that back from GM. So, I may or may not get $3,200 back from my dealer. What I get back shall depend on what my dealer gets back from GM. Still, I put it upon my dealer to look out for me, which it apparently is not willing to do. This is not a good-will gesture to the customer that GM and my dealer shall have to revisit. I shall point this out to my dealer when I pick up my C7 tomorrow. I had to put more money down to keep my payment where I wanted it, but I will get that back, I hope. My 2% interest rate that my dealer got for me did not change, so no loss there, and I give it credit for that. There was an increase in sales tax by $200, but I insisted my dealer cover that cost, and it did in lowering the price of my C7 by another $200. So, no loss there for me, thus far. I'm not losing any money on the way this played out, I think, but it did leave a bad taste in my mouth, and so I am not going to buy the planned Chevy pick up truck from this dealer. I may also consider a Ford or Dodge (shudder the thought). It' just bad customer relations. It would not budge from its position. For a moment I thought of walking away, but that would have cost me a lot of money. There is the $1,000 deposit on a C7 with my name on the personalized plaque that I likely would have lost. I would have lost the $1,000 under MSRP. The next C7 I bought would have cost me $3,200 more. The most important thing to me is that I would have lost my baby after waiting for delivery for almost 9 months. I do not know when I would have gotten another to my specifications. I did insist on the dealer covering the increased sales tax, so I have not lost any money, so far. I guess what I do resent is this has taken the edge off my joy a bit of getting this car. My wife says the bitter taste shall soon depart the very instant we drive away from the dealership in our C7 tomorrow. Last edited by Richardlord; 05-09-2014 at 04:16 PM. |

Wow. They make you put $1000 down to order the car and then charge you the price increase with the "promise" to get the price protection from GM.
That's some dealership you have. ![]() I hope you get your $3200. If not, I'd take them to small claims. I hope Becky chimes in on this. My dealerahip didn't require a deposit, said it was their problem to get the $3200 from GM NOT mine, and honored the original sales agreement.
