So another quick drive and all I have to say is wow.. J pipes work amazing.. Like a charm.. No more drone at all.. Now before the drone was so bad and the vibrations that I kinda hated driving slow.. Now its all quiet.. Only thing its I still have vibration (amplified by the rear deck/rear speakers sounding loose) at about 1600 to 1700. But its for a second in third or fourth going about 30 mph.. As soon as I get over 1700 rpms is all quiet again.. Think maybe I need an extra inch of pipe. But I can live with it this way.. Lol.. Gonna put the rear apart and see what exactly the vibration is.. Stuff something back there and fix

While he was welding my j pipes, I looked around the car, I found soot where the cats connect to the catback. look at the pictures. does this mean they need to be tighter? exhaust leak? or maybe just normal? my exhaust doesnt have water dripping system like the factory one does.

You could try tightening them and see but it's normal since they aren't welded. If you look at my MRTs the portion that clamps to the stock exhaust looks just like that

I figured. Cool.. Just wanted to check.. I'll clean it up and see how fast it builds.. It looks like its mainly water escaping and moving the soot along

Hey, sorry if this is a repost, I did a search but it didn't come up with much. It seems the V6 ACS splitter fitment is pretty good if you use some different hardware other than what it comes with. That's not a big deal, certainly surmountable but please correct me if I'm wrong. I can't find too much about the rockers though. Any fitment or quality issues with those? Also can we get just a splitter from GM without buying the entire body kit? Thanks for any help.
And thanks for apparently being an awesome forum. I have 3 body shop guys I've been talking to about this and they all told me to come here and ask around.

I do believe you can get the front splitter separate from GM but I will warn you it is expensive. When you are asking about the rockers do you mean the ACS ones or the GM GFX or ZL1 rockers? Quote:
Monchy I'm pretty sure you wanted to point him to Maureen and not Becky since Maureen is the one that does the GM parts for the site. But I second his recommendation on Rodgers Chevy, I have dealt with all of them over there and they have been great. Maureen is definitely my go to person when it comes to any GM parts. Here is a link to Maureen's page here on the forum. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/member.php?u=22665 |

Has anyone know if the heat shield under the car around the exhaust can be removed?? I want to put some sound deadening material there right around the x pipe. Just want to reduce the leftover sound. Don't get me wrong its not a bad sound. It just sounds like the air going thru the x pipe.. But now that I have no drone, I want no noise at all lol

It would need to be some pretty high temp sound-deadener, I think. You might be better off trying to tackle this from inside the car, if possible.
