Of course its useless, but its a great feature for those who only run their cars at the track a few times a year.

Yeah its like making a pickup with tow haul button that helps for towing but saying wo wo wo if you use it we void your warranty. Wait but I bought this model because its high tow rating and that it has a tow mode to make towing easier and you advertise it a such then say I am voiding my warranty if I do so.

You do not need this crap unless you're modified for drag racing, and at that point I would install an aftermarket (probably better) system.

Only other reason to have this is if you're a douchbag...

Damn jealous much? Its clear your opinion on this is completely unbiased.

I don't care either way, offered or not, but if this was touted on a Camaro would everyone be talking about how stupid and douchey it is?

Some serious fanboyism in here. Intense even for the Other Automotive section.
THIS!!!! if the Camaro had this the same people saying its stupid would think its the coolest thing ever offered.

The factory line lock is probably paid for by a Tire Manufacturer Conglomerate. They will probably show up on all pony cars in the near future.

As if us knuckle dragging Muscle Car owners aren't tough enough on our tires as it is... lol

It's a cool feature in my books. Sounds like they now offer a track key, like the Boss has, for the 2014+ stangs too.

Lots of butthurt in here. LOL

Ya, lemme tell ya... some serious Camaro fanboyism going on over here at the CAMARO5 FORUM. For the record, line locks on a Camaro SS from the factory would be equally as stupid. A huge number of teens drive these cars and all we need is a dealer option that increases their likelihood of driving stupidly on the street. Parents will buy it for their kids b/c they either don't know what it is or don't care.

If you must, offer it as an option on a specialty mustang, not your run of the mill GT.

A lot of people commenting on this line loc that absolutely have no clue what its for or the proper use of it. I would love one on my car and for drag racing its a necessity.

I believe Ford commented on the Line Lock Feature... stating it will void your warranty if racing against another vehicle / time. Ford went further into detail to go as far as saying if you use it on a private road / private property it does not void the warranty. They also mentioned that if you use it to test your quarter mile skills on a private road not against another driver or time, then it will not void your warranty either. Ford ALSO said if you're just using it to show off / show your friends then it will not void your warranty.

So they're pretty clear they don't want you to use it at a track unless you want to void warranty; but if you have friends and a private road and are just doing runs to mess with it, then it will not void the warranty.

i think the write up was by MotorTrend or Motor Authority, re posted by Jalopnik

Well with the line lock on Camaros some ppl do have them as an aftermarket equipment. I may be getting it myself when I'm back in WA. I don't think it should be OE only cuz of mass safety reasons.

Its a good idea, but it should just be part of an performance package like the Track Pack and not standard equipment on all GTs.

LOL

Safety reasons?

Right...I'd bet a significant amount of money that a TEENY TINY number of accidents result from having a line lock on a vehicle.
