Convertible Roll Bars

I'm thrilled I have a convertible C7 as my first Corvette. Do you think there will be a way to get roll bars added to it at some point so I can do some track work? I see other convertible C6s (I think they were C6s) with chrome roll bars behind the seats.

For those of you who have had vettes... is that something that will come in an after-market kit somewhere along the line or is that custom work?

Thanks! Noob.

On the "other" corvette forum, a few people have installed roll bars for their convertibles and have reported it.

I had a custom removable roll bar for my C5 constructed and installed. It had mounting brackets welded to the frame (involved removing the gas tanks). Then the bar had matching mounting plates which then allowed it to be screwed to the permanent mounting plates (using Grade 8 screws).

A guy on the "other" forum had a permanent roll bar constructed and installed in his C6.

I had a "bolt-in" roll bar for my C6 which was provided by Breathless Performance products.

I have emailed them (Breathless), and he does plan to develop a bolt-in roll bar for the C7.

Those chrome hoops are for show only. I've not seen any that were track capable. The ones certified for track use must have 4 mounting point and meet other structural design criteria.

That said, have patience. With the Z06 now coming out as a convertible, track capable bars are almost certain from the aftermarket in the near future. Keep in mind its still very early in the life of the C7.
