had a GREAT weekend.

Had the suprise party for Emily on sunday. I made my famous seafood alfredo with shrimp, scallops and lobster, as well as some BBQ chicken, macaroni and cheese, steamed crab legs and oysters, 3 huge flat-iron steaks, beans and red rice, some succotash, and followed it up with birthday cupcakes.

she was beyond suprised that I would set something like this up (cus her birthday was last thursday but I was working till saturday). but it all worked out well.

and yesterday she worked from 7-3 and while she was gone at work, I swung by a couple dealerships and negotiated a few deals. picked her up in her durango and drove her to the other end of town to the dealership. then handed her the keys to her new car that she's been wanting for a while now. a brand new 2009 VW Jetta SE, Platinum Grey metallic, loaded with full leather, sunroof, and a whole crap load of other options. car had 3 miles on it (from the test drive I took earlier in the day).

and before you flame me for not buying a GM car.... We initially planned on getting her a 2009/2010 Pontiac G6 hardtop convertible. but with the pricing what it was (even after GMS and other discounts) it would have just been a pain on our finances esp with me buying another car for myself and financing my motor builds. not to mention, with the C4C program... I got $4500.00 for a 99 durango with 156k on the clock, no a/c, bald tires, (a new water pump, fan, and fan clutch from last month....), busted steering rack, along with a few other discounts for military and whatnot, im paying less than $13k for the car that listed for around $23k with all the options. I personally wanted the TDI version (cus the 50+ mpg is just amazing.... and the whole turbo diesel thing is sweet too). but she didnt want to mess with a diesel (and I was worried she'd forget and fill up with regular gasoline). but the car scoots. its listed at 8.2sec 0-60mph... maybe I should challenge PQ to a race....
it scoots. I havent gotten too hard on it yet, its only got about 100 miles now. but we also got free oil changes for 3 years/36,000miles and a bunch of other little things. I'll get pics up tomorrow or thursday... (when she takes my truck for the weekend)
