Yes, the Scat Packs can either be installed at the dealer or straight from the factory. Now here is where the confusions comes to play... The Scat Packs and the R/T Scat Pack6.4L/392 are two different things. The R/T Scat Pack 6.4L/392 is a new trim line that will have the 6.4L Hemi, Brembos, etc. on it. The Scat Packs are stage kits that are only for the 5.7L Hemi.

Thanks. So if I'm reading everything right, a 5.7 Scat Pack isn't available from the factory, only from the dealer. Still pretty cool and something that Chevrolet Performance is working on but is lagging way behind.

I beg to differ. Had them installed on my Challenger SRT8 courtesy of AAC. I had the white/red dual halos installed. I am excited about the Charger/Challenger line up have owned R/T and SRT8 versions of both. Alittle more promising than Chevrolets at the moment.

I don't see a single way where the limited Dodge lineup is more promising than the Chevrolet lineup. There are less packages (1LE, RS, Z/28, etc.) with inferior handling performance, and the straight line performance isn't on par with same level (SRT vs. ZL1, etc.) competition. I think cargo space is the only category Dodge wins.

The lineups cannot be compared.

Until tomorrow when Honda comes out with a VTEC supreme package and you change your mind.

I've owned both, all trim levels. So my opinion isn't biased like yours sounds like. Each has it's pro/cons.

I can see an argument for styling, but performance is hardly a function of bias. If a Ferrari beats my Camaro, it isn't because I prefer Ferraris. It's because the Ferrari is faster. Likewise, the Challenger is consistently slower and offers less purchasing options than the Camaro. Clearly, I'm a Camaro guy, but any Challenger guy pretending his R/T is faster or that he has an OEM 1LE competitor for the road course isn't honest.

think..... The different ranges are hardly comparable, An R/T is around 3k cheaper than SS, the SRT Core is only slightly more expensive than a standard 2SS, a full on SRT8 is a whopping TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS CHEAPER than a ZL1 (and nearly as quick in the 1/4 mile might I add) and in reality the same as a loaded SS. SRT Core and SRT BOTH pull faster times around a handling track than the SS and kill it in 1/4 mile acceleration (No stock SS has come close to the 12.2 an SRT can and has run). there is NO direct competitor for the 1lE or ZL1 until the 15s come out and neither you nor I know NOTHING about those yet.

A better price point comparison would be the 39-41k SRT8 Core model, to the 1LE which typically averages out around 38-41k. In this comparison the 1LE is quicker through the turns and slower in every other performance measurement including 0-60, 1/8, 1/4, 0-100, highway roll race, and top speed. The problem with the 1LE is it's really a one trick pony and no more superior on the street than the standard SS. If you want a great street performing Camaro you have to step up to the ZL1.
