This thread is quite awful at this point ...

Quiet the car down, or change your route/times ... I highly doubt you want you car flagged in CA's smog system.

I'm pretty sure there is a software setting on the phone that can stop that. You should look into it.

Pretty sure it happened after a software update, w/o any setting changes. and it only happens on web pages. Thanks for your concern about my level of education though.

It is harassment when, while simply walking to your car after dining at Taco Bell, this guy stops you because your "exhaust" is too loud!

I leave the gym a few months ago, start the car and pull away. I am still in the parking lot (doing about 15mph) and I am lit up as I am about to park on the other side of the lot to go into a store (cops often sit in the lot for some reason). he comes up with a very snotty attitude and remarks about trying to make as much noise as possible...too which I am confused and replied that I was driving slow and going to park (meanwhile 3 more cop cars show up). he enquires repeatedly if I am running race fuel ( I am not) - like 4x he asked me. asked me who built the car, where the shop was etc...finally says to keep it down and lets me go. he had a HUGE attitude the whole time...meanwhile I was hands on the wheel, yes sir, no sir

last night, I am leaving same place. I am following a loud mustang out of the parking lot, he goes one way me the other. I start to drive, and I am not speeding, widows down, relaxed. I see a set of lights about 3 lengths back in the other lane keeping my pace (suv lights). I keep doing my thing, he follows me about a mile and waits for me to get to the intersection. as I pull away (my car is louder then obviously) he lights me up (still wasn't speeding)...I am like wtf!? windows down, car off, hands on the wheel..then I hear the voice "I am sick and tired of hearing this car, we are going to do something about those mufflers"...I look up and its the same f&*kin cop! I cant believe it...then I realize he seen my car and waited for me, didn't follow the mustang...nope, ME! and waited for me to accelerate even a little to light me up.

he has the same attitude too...asks me if my windows are tinted...I replied yes, he asked how dark (but they aren't very dark - I think 70 - you can see me), he looked at the (missing) front plate. started asking me about my job (teacher in his city) - all the while with this attitude. tells me my car is obnoxious. takes my info and goes back to write - what I assume is a list of tickets. comes back a min later says he doesn't have time to do all this now but if he hears my car again he is sending me to a ref....

obviously this guy has a hard on for me...I have passed countless police in my car over the years, no one has pulled me over for sound. ive been pulled for other reasons, restarted the car with them behind me - and still no mention of sound...I don't know how to deal with this guy!
After growing up (In The 80's)in north Cal and racing at what is now mazda raceway park,I would say your in the wrong if you really want the truth,no matter what you say,you have no cats, and no mufflers,so that said, there high noise regulations everywhere in Cal,plus your car is illegal and can not pass inspection, so the cop is just doing his job,and that is the bottom line..I know a lot of younger guys may not see it that way,but its the truth..you need to either fix your car or end up in either court or jail sooner or later for it....the extra power you gain from not having the correct parts on your car,is not that much, and not worth the trouble,so just turn up the boost a couple of pounds if its that big of a deal to you...
better yet just add a exhaust dump after you fix the sound by replacing the Cats, and mufflers..good luck

Sounds like he is doing his job, people loitering in parking lots are usually up to no good. Why is it when criminals get caught it's always somebody else's fault?

I'm gonna have to take the side of the officer because his interaction with the OP is based on his job duties. The OP has already stated that he has obvious illegal modifications to his vehicle.

The encounters that his buddies had with the officer are hearsay. If his buddy had no license plates, that is a violation. The fact that they were in the mail means nothing to the officer at the time of the contact. That is a common over-used excuse. If the other buddy was supposedly sitting in his car in the parking lot, maybe he looked suspicious. Perhaps that parking lot is notorious for drug-related activity. The officer's duty is to contact people who look out of place.

Look at the bigger picture here. Maybe there's a Captain, Lieutenant, or Sergeant on the department who orders his/her officers to conduct property checks on that particular parking lot because of citizen complaints.

I've been a police officer in Las Vegas for almost 12 years. I was previously assigned to SWAT for 4 years and was assigned to the Undercover Narcotics Division for 4 years before that. I'm promoting to the rank of Sergeant as soon as my department approves the new positions and I've made thousands of contacts with people throughout the years.

I have a different perspective than most because of my experience with people who commit blatant violations and then whine and complain when they capture the attention of the police. It's like a wounded guy who limps down the street while bleeding all over himself getting upset when a doctor approaches. SMH.

haha loitering, sitting in your car after a workout drinking a shake is no reason for an officer to come up and start questioning you, especially when they ask stupid shit like " why are you sweating" = umm its called a gym. oddly enough I spoke one other guy about him and he had a very similar story when he was sitting in his car, little daughter in the back - he sits there a few minutes because when she gets out of the kids playroom from the gym, she is all hyped up. he has on his video screens in the back seat. the SAME officer comes up knockin on the window and starts with, "you know those screens are illegal" to which he replied "no the they are not" he said yes they are, so he proceeded to tell him they are only illegal when the car is in motion, and they are not bypassed, all the wiring is there, you are welcome to take a look. so again officer they are not illegal. the officer then (after the obligatory why are you here where do you live etc questions) said " well it sounds like you know your law" and walked away....WTF...he knew the law too, but yet went straight to "those screens are illegal"...btw a few days later he followed him home to see if the screens came on. he has also seen him questioning people standing outside the gym,,he said he feels like he cant sit in his car at all, that he needs to rush out of the lot because he doesn't want to deal with this guy....you guys keep taking his side, whatever - to me its not about fixing my car, I will fix it. I know the guys im talking to and I know they are telling me the truth.

look I know some of you replying are officers, and yes I know he has the right to pull me over, I would bet 99% of you would get pulled over to for some legit reason if an officer follows you long enough as well...it doesn't necessarily mean it is warranted, and it would leave you shaking your head. there are good cops, lots of them...and then there are pricks that wear a badge - if you guys cant see that he falls into the latter group, then you are blind. again not saying he isn't within his job of pulling me over, but if any of you dont think if a cop followed you long enough to find something even slightly wrong and pull you over too, you are wrong, and if he has it out for you *like this guy does for me - then he will find a reason or wait until one comes. he didn't pull over the equally loud mustang... he didnt pull me over cruising up the road when my car is quiet...no he just kept following me until I had to accelerate at an intersection. and by accelerate I don't mean speeding, I mean my car got slightly louder - not even loud. anyhow, I know if I spoke to 4 people and 3 of them now have had incidents with this guy, there are no doubt many more customers at this gym that he is bothering. that's not protecting and serving to me.

Hey your name wouldn't happen to be Joe Isuzu would it?

Sorry but your little stories are getting very hard to believe...
By the way everyone knows the back seat screens are legal to view when the car is in motion, only screens the driver can see cannot be on when the car is in motion...
