4 Post Lift Opinions
Does anyone have any experience with 4 post lifts? I am looking to purchase and install one in the next 3 weeks so I can maximize garage space. I am looking at the Rotary brand, they seem to be more costly but I am guessing one will get what they pay for. Anyone here have any first hand experience? Thanks

But it is a 4 post so duh it's going to be more expensive than a 2 post lift, but space saving would be win in this case. My only worry about them is storing anything under it and having the lift jack blow out. Then again that's a hazard with any lift so I guess it's install and store at your own risk.

![]() And to address Zabo's valid concern - there are mechanical interlocks every 4 inches that require 60 psi of air pressure to override when lowering. (i.e. The lift is defaulted to a locked position with no operator input - very safe - won't crush anything below if the hydraulics fail) In addition there is a redundant set of interlocks that engage if any of the cables were to fail) |

2 posts are not a problem if it's a good quality lift with proper rating.

Thanks speedster, that is the other companies lift I was looking at. I have no concerns about the stacked storage. I believe 4 post is the only way to go for my application as I have many other vehicles I may want to use it with for service or motorcycle/4 wheeler storage. My only concern are the little things you don't find out until after you own one. I appreciate the response.

You can get a 2 post with a parking plate. Normally you only need 4 post if your lifting over 9000.
http://www.bendpak.com/products/auto...lifts/pl-7.php Guess that's not good for wrenching however. |

I have had lifts for years in many homes I have owned, be careful, I personally don't like two posters because they have a tendency to bounce around a lot while doing work to the car PLUS I don't like the suspension being stretched as the wheels hang down....ALSO most home garages will NOT support a two poster, to be safe you need at least 6 inches of hard concrete and most house garage floors can vary all over in the slab, from 2 1/2 inches to 4 inches....many builders DON'T pour this thick, plus you really can't use a two poster very easily for double stacking because there is no place to mount the drip trays...I know some people like two posters...TWO Posters have to be bolted down, many of the new 4 posters do NOT need to be bolted down, and can be moved with optional caster kits !! I am giving you my $.02

In 2004, I put together a spreadsheet to help me compare 70+ lift brands & models. I decided on a Bend-Pak HD-9 with a 9000 lb capacity. I needed 9000 minimum to lift a Ford Excursion.
I've been happy with the Bend-Pak.

Thanks guys for all the help. I am looking at the Rotary or the Bend brands. Both seem able although the Bend brand is a little cheaper. I have no desire to use a 2 post, it will not work for my applications. I picked up a brochure at Bloomington Gold on the Rotary, their Revolution 9. Seems like a good product. I am going to call both companies and get a bottom line # with delivery, then decide. I would like to be able to lift my Ford Super Duty if I need too. Guess I better check the weight on it first. Thanks for all the good words, I appreciate it.
