All That's Left is a Test Drive

I was not sure where to put this post, so I figured a prospective new owner would fit in here even though I did an intro post a while ago http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=346366
and hope that sums me up.

After pouring, and I mean POURING, through the posts here I am getting more indecisive as THE TIME comes near. Here are my concerns/ambiguities:

1.) Manual vs. Auto
Not trying to re-invent the thread wheel here. Right now I work pretty close to home and can really rip that baby through backroads and nice highway stretches. But if I have to go back to the city of Cambridge, MA to work from 25 miles North (I work in Biotech) then the manual may get tough. My first 3 cars and 4 of my first 5 (of 8) were manual and never had a concern but it's been 10 years since I drove one. NONE of which were the muscle of the Camaro V-8.

2.) LOVE the hill start assist; no idea the hate on it. Tried it on a buddiy's manual BMW a year ago, awesome helper. Thinks its great.

3.) Range AFM shutoff. If I got the auto trans, I do worry that the AFM disable, because it's actuated by oil, could be an issue with intermittent use (gumming, etc).

4.) WANT the dual mode exhaust and thats only manual option; badd ass:

5.) Visibility

I guess all thats left is to test drive both versions. I hope MacMulkin in Nashua is understanding.

Sorry to vent, but a few weeks ago I was dead set ready, now all this thinking. I should have just gone and bought one.

Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, wive's, husbands, girlfirends and boyfriends here don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

Thanks! Is it too much to ask a dealer to get a test drive for an automatic AND a manual on same day? I will tell them well in advance.

Great question,

I would certainly advise that you inquire with your desired dealership about this possibility. If you have additional questions, don't hesitate to let us know .
