Whats worked personally is delay as long as possible. When you finally have to go plead not guilty and then you get a court date. When you go to court its possible the officer wont recall or wont show. There was a write up on one of my ls1 sites but i cant find it now.

Unrelated case, but yeah, on my last legal experience my lawyer said we'll delay it for a year and then see if they can find a witness. But we ended up making a deal and I ended up with no ticket and just paid the fine.

If you are innocent of the issue...and believe you are, why are you asking people who weren't there their opinion?

If you were speeding...whatever you were doing....YOU were there. Unless you have a Go Pro with 4 angles with telemetry, whats the point in asking OUR opinions? ONLY you know what you were doing...by listing all those mods to your cas (presumably as an excuse for your driving) makes me feel you are looking for a reason or excuse for what the officer observed.

Seriously...

What the hell do the damn mods to your car have to do with anything the officer observed?

Excuses...

Because its his word vs the officer's and there are no other witnesses especially an unbiased 3rd party witness but yeah MAYBE we should have a LAW introduced to require automakers install dashcams in consumer vehicles like they do in some countries so that situations like this can be refuted by the truth rather than what the officer really wants to have happen.

But two questions come to mind for the OP:

1. was the officer actively using a radar gun? If so, he doesn't need to pace you; I don't know much about using a radar gun while in active traffic but out on the side (on the shoulder) sure why not? (and mind you; there's also two lanes of traffic, getting the wrong person has happened before). But you also said that he was in traffic in the adjacent lane so using a radar gun would be unlikely but not impossible?

2. WERE YOU actually speeding? What's the posted speed limit for the off ramp? I've seen off ramps have 2 different speeds; yellow sign with a number indicating a speed is NOT compulsory in many states (note I didn't say ALL) WHITE sign with black numbers indicating speed IS COMPULSORY so there may have been a sign as soon as you got off the exit (like many in Oregon do) and then further down just before you reach the intersection a new sign will appear indicating the speed limit before entering the intersection.

25 mph doesn't seem out of the ordinary for off ramp speeds when approaching an intersection unless say 20-15 mph were posted? But you also pointed that you were going 15 mph over so that would make the off ramp speed limit 10mph???? I don't think so; 25+15=40 I wonder if that's the case?

In any case; we're not lawyers but some say you should try to fight it. I'd say at least research it, I don't usually fight my tickets unless its blatantly wrong.

x2, delay into mid-august if you can and hope the officer is on vacation like 80% of the rest of us, and is a no-show.

This is your best bet if you already have taken traffic school. Unless the judge has an axe to grind against police that day you will be presumed guilty, even with a good story with some hard evidence (which you don't have, sorry).

He's asking opinions in what he should do. If it was me I would fight it. I think it's BS that they can pull you over w/ out a radar. Last time I was pulled over, the cop said I was speeding. I asked for the radar and he said he didn't have it. I told him I'll see him in court. When he came back he gave me a ticket bc I didn't have my seat belt on. I didn't mind paying that bc he wasn't lying. I'm not a cop hater what's so ever but some cops use their authority little bit to much. I also know small towns will look for any reason to pull you over just to ticket you..

I should have made it clear in the OP that the officer specifically told me that he heard me and that's how he got me. There was no pacing or radar gun involved, and I do doubt that he was able to accurately gauge a speed given how brief of a window he had to see me drive by. He claims that I was doing 50 in a 35 and that the turn I took was reckless (I did floor the gas as soon as I cleared that turn, don't think it'd qualify as such). The first thing the man said to me when he came to my window was that he was sure that I was going to make a break for it and disbelief that the car was my own. The impression made was that he felt I was a spoiled kid.

That would have been a good time to get a recording of everything he said. He basically placed you as a car thief before he even talked to you. I have a feeling you could get a dismissal but you're going to need a lawyer for that.

I am not a driving law expert but since when is taking a turn too fast considered reckless if it was a controlled turn in the travel lane? (So long as you didn't cross into the other lane, and there were no potential pedestrians AND you were still within the speed limit). Had it been wet pavement I might have thought differently but you don't indicate dry or wet and besides it doesn't matter.

HEARING a car go 50mph? Wow he must have some kind of ear that's better than the radar gun :P I don't think ANY LEO is qualified to HEAR how fast one is going, visually; sure I can see that possible.

Oh yeah and you would think the cop would know that when you downshift the car is going to make that rumbling noise as it slows down; I hope the cop recorded everything HE said to you because its going to be brought up in court.

I agree anything's possible, usually too fast of acceleration usually means unsafe start/stop not reckless driving unless there were other cars around maybe.

I know of several camaro owners who have run into trouble with the law but it was obviously their own fault.

yep, FL lets you slide multiple times. A long time ago I got a ticket for doing 89 in a 55 ( 71 Corvette ) I was going faster but he was kind. Anything over 25+ is a court appearance here. I told the FHP officer I was just blowing the crap out of it ( true ) and he said " yeah, the first time I saw the headlights come up, but not the second time " lol, the old M-22 4 speed made the front end lift...gave me away
