Maybe it's just me, but if you're already spending 60-65 grand or so on a car, I'd just spend the extra coin. It's fair to argue that it's still a good amount of money, but it's not like you can add it later if you end up wishing you would have gotten it. I've had too many cars where I thought I wouldn't want something, and ended up regretting not getting that something.

I have a Z51 with mr and wish i would have bought a reg C7 , to me the ride is too harsh and am going to talk to my dealer for a reg C7, however with the price increase my car is now worth $6,400.00 more than a non Z51.

Donzi, your mag ride should, at its softest setting, be about the same as or even a little softer than a non-Z51 Stingray. Sounds like one of two things: the dealer forgot to remove the shipping blocks or the system was set to stay on its firmest settings all the time. It may just need to be adjusted via the settings menu on the infotainment screen. Check these before anything more drastic.

I agree...I rode in a non Z-51/MR and mine (that has it)....and mine gets a smooth or smoother than the Non MR...something isn't right on yours

Donzi,

Have you gone for a ride in a C7 without mag ride as a basis of comparison? As the other two said, I think you have a mag ride technical or set-up issue. It definitely should not be a worse ride than the standard suspension. I would check your settings, get a comparison ride, and/or take it to the dealer and see if there is something wrong with it.

Thanks to the OP for this post. Great info guys! I just jumped over to this forum from the ZL1 forum. I also just got done printing out a "build your own" sheet and was wondering if I really needed the mag ride option. Can't really say that I have made up my mind yet...but a lot of good insight here. I am heading to the dealer this week to place the order (taking the price increase bite...unless I can find a sold order that has went bad). btw...keeping the ZL1. No, I can't drive them both at the same time, but, they both have a place...in my heart.

purpleRac3r I can't find the settings for the suspension in the infotainment screen found steering and all the other things but no suspension, owners manual says engine sound control found that, steering found that, suspension but on the screen there is no suspension.

Where in the infotainment screen is mag ride adjustment found ???????

I think it's under Driving Mode where the steering one is.

ETA: I just went and looked for it. I don't think you can manually set it then outside of the driver mode select switch.

I'll be honest, I'm not sure just where it is, as I myself do not have magnetic ride. No menus come up for it in my car. I do recall seeing it mentioned when I read through my owners manual. Perhaps one our friends with mag ride can chime in here? I'll try and look it up in the next day or so in my manual. It is one of the 12 aspects that change with the Drive Mode selector. I suppose there's a remote possibility your car's computer was flashed for a non-mag ride suspension and its defaulting to firm. My car is not supposed to have the performance traction capability since I don't have mag ride, but I actually can turn it on.

The magnetic Ride adjusts with riding modes. To make the individual adjustments you are looking for are in track mode only and not recommended for street use. None of the track modes make it what would be considered a luxurious ride. It allows a number of track settings from wet to sport 1 and 2 and up to race. These adjust how the car will handle given driver ability, track conditions and familiarity of the track.

If you want a car with a smooth ride and will never push the performance of it on a track, drive both the base vehicle and mag ride to see which will give you the ride you are looking for. In my opinion, buying the Mag ride to achieve a smooth ride is not money well spent.

I have a Z51 with Mag ride and love the car. It is what I was looking for, but if I feel a bump in the road, I am not disappointed, under the false impression I was buying a Lincoln.

I just checked my owner's manual, here's what I found: if you go into the personalization menu, select Driving Mode. Then select Suspension. You should then be able to select Tour, Sport, Track or Auto. Anything but Auto will leave it in the selected mode. Only Auto allows it to change when changing Driver Modes. This is found on page 5-42 in the manual. Yours may be set to Track, which would be the harshest for daily driving.

Yes, all C7s will adjust many inputs, to include suspension with driving modes. The individual suspension tweaking discussed above can be made only on Mag ride vehicles in Track mode. That is changing the suspension within the mode.

This is getting more complicated than needed. Let me simplify it. If you want a smooth ride, then test a car with and without mag ride in eco or weather mode. Both will be at their smoothest suspensions. Any suspension modes from there will stiffen it to accommodate increased performance driving.
