I don't. But to give diet 80% of the weight of the equation and lifting only 20% is a falsehood...

Now, if you suggest they take the time to make a "healthy pizza" as an alternative to your typical fast food pizza and to fit that in to your meal plan then I'm all for it. I am always posting recipes as alternatives to unhealthy choices |

of course low calorie pizza would be better, but isn't it the same people that can't control themselves. So if you have them on a strict meal plan, wouldn't they be more likely to binge when they go out? Your general health will be fine if you go with the 80/20 rule....think about it 80% of the time you are eating "healthy" I can bet that this ratio is better then what most are doing currently....aka ones who try so hard to eat clean during the week then binge are at the disadvantage....
what is bad about pizza? Bread? no Cheese? no Tomato sauce? no if you look at it pizza is an all natural food gotta think outside the box...i also wanted to add is that people think i am advocating eating crap all the time...I AM NOT! That is NOT what IIFYM is. Last edited by stt816; 03-12-2014 at 02:47 PM. |

I am not sure why I must explain this to someone in the field. Not if it's a properly constructed meal plan, you are eating the proper ratios of proteins, carbs and fats. This is where the 5-6 small meal come in as well. We all know that 3 800 cal meals is 2400 cals and that 6 400 cal meals is 2400 cals, so at the end of the day we're back to cals in vs. cals out. we all know that it takes about 2.5-3hrs to digest a meal in that cal range but what happens the 3 higher cal meals, especially with higher gi foods, is that there is more of an insulin spike, by the time the second feeding comes along you will most likely be hungry, with that hunger comes cravings as well as a good chance of overeating and poor food choices as a result. ( I haven't forgotten you feel there are no poor food choices IIFYM) Now by eating the smaller meals by the time you've digested the previous meal it's time to re-feed. This helps keep insulin levels more steady, helps in decreasing cravings and binge eating. If you have been following the plan for a short while and eating good quality foods your body adjusts and the physical cravings are reduced drastically. Now by creating meals that are similar in texture and taste you satisfy the mental aspect of it. There are also well planned cheat days, re-feedings, over feedings etc, depending on where you are. By having these days defined it makes it much easier to follow a well constructed diet and have a treat now and then. This is how many of us who eat healthy and have for years succeed. By cutting someone loose and saying yes, go for that pizza if you feel like it will backfire in a heart beat. |

lololololol@ cheat days....
let me consume 8k calories, but its ok because i ate clean this whole week, no. why do you need those, are you feeling deprived? There is such thing as refeed days when you are in a deficit, but that is carefully planned going to maintanance calories VERY LOW fat (just from trace protein/carb fats)/1g protein per pound/Lots of carbs...this is to increase leptin levels. Also most overweight people would not need this this is for lower bf % Can't believe you're still talking about meal timing for those who would like to actually learn more follow this page http://instagram.com/alphatrainingprotocols heres some pictures for you http://instagram.com/p/lDOcS7Q2yj/ http://instagram.com/p/k4-SfoQ21S/ http://instagram.com/p/k2Xzrlw2-j/ http://instagram.com/p/klkRqsw26S/ |

CFD, I see where you're coming from. I still don't think people know what they are putting in their body regardless of how they are trying. For example, if you eat peanut butter, do you measure it? How do you know what ratio of those proteins and fats got into your body. Until someone is tracking what they eat they can say they are eating whatever ratio of this to that they want, its all anecdotal. Get a food scale and use all your measuring equipment (we have 3 sets of measuring spoons and cups because they are in constant use).
I weigh and measure everything I eat except on my "cheat day" which is every Saturday. Yes, I have a set cheat day when I can drink a few beers and maybe eat a wing or 2. It kills my need for the junk the rest of the week. There is a lot written on the benefits of planned cheat meals and days.

I agree I weigh/measure everything I put into my body. Some may say it is extreme, but honestly you have no idea what you are consuming if you don't do this, tracking now a days is so easy literally takes 2 seconds on myfitnesspal with the app |

Again I disagree, now if your following along the lines of your thinking from what I take a cheat day would be eat anything you want because that seems to be your thinking on regular days. Cheat days, or re-feed days are not a free for all but do allow for some leniency but both are for the same reasons, people call them cheat days because it makes them feel better. lol.
