I've been working on an updated design. What do you guys think? It's just the front clip but it takes a while to do this on Solid Works.

It's a rough design but this is what I have so far.

2014 Chevelle

If GM were going to design a new Chevelle, they'd start by choosing a platform appropriate for the job and look at what they could do with a car of that shape and size. Originally, Zeta was supposed to be a platform used for a variety of products, but now Alpha is taking on that role, so I'd begin with an Alpha vehicle on a large wheelbase and try to determine what I could do, keeping in mind aerodynamics in the design. I can't imagine another 5thgen-styled car coming out, so they'd probably drop much of the retro styling. The concepts I've seen mostly show how loved the classic Chevelle body is, but in today's safety and fuel economy environment, I'm not sure a vehicle that tried to do what the Challenger did would work for Chevrolet. I would look toward the modern Charger for more inspiration. The Charger is far from its classic design, but it reinvigorated a classic nameplate with muscle car proportions and appropriate compromises that would make it sell to people other than enthusiasts. They gave the enthusiasts performance trims. Similarly aggressive proportions and performance can be attained on Alpha if a future Chevelle were designed. I'm no photo editor, but I'd look closely at new Cadillac, not the 1969 model, for the angles and shapes of any future sport vehicles.

The 66 looked nothing like a 64, a 68 looked nothing like a 67, a 73 looked nothing like a 72. The last car to carry the Chevelle name was the 1977 and that nameplate was on a tiny badge on the right rear. At least it was on my 76.
but to counter your point, that was back in the day when cars changed almost year to year. What was the longest the Chevelle stayed with a design in it's prime 2 years and even in those 2 years there were minor differences. But you always knew it was a Chevelle, it had the same design cues to identify it. Not saying that if the Chevelle came back it would have to look like say a 70, just countering your point is all.

The 1970 is my all time favorite! I hope I'll get to build a pro-touring 1970 with my dad someday

When they changed from the 70 to the 71 model, I snuck behind the Chevy dealership about a week before they were supposed to come out and when I saw the front end at first I thought it was a Nova since the Chevelle had always had 4 headlights and this one only had two like a Nova. I thought when I realized it was a Chevelle that they ruined it. The 70 was and is my favorite Chevelle.

I agree 100%

The 1970 was the pinnacle of the era, and the single headlights on the 1971 ruined the car IMO.

Still had the shape of Chevelle though.

And yes I agree, 71 ruined the chevelle. 1970 was perfection IMO.
