Could just be a lack of meds.

And the 2015 Mustang reminds me of the Mustang II.

Sorry Madmax, but the new Mustang doesn't really "do it" for me. I honestly feel like my Camaro is the better looking car, and that's coming from someone whose not some blind GM fanboy. If the Mustang had been different, maybe I'd be planning on one of those next. I don't think its bad looking either...just not a homerun in my book. That said...it should be a fantastic performer.

But then again...so should the 6th gen Camaro. Surely you've read all of the praise the new Alpha chassis has been receiving right? The car is going to be a great handler right from the base model. 100 lighter? Try an easy double or triple that figure. If GM uses the same version of Alpha that the ATS is riding on, it could be 300+ lbs difference. Just look at the ATS with the V6 auto. It weighs around 3,450 lbs. In the Camaro, with similar setup the weight is 3,750+ lbs.

I know everyone has been saying 300lbs, I just really don't think that is going to happen. 200lbs, maybe, just pure speculation at this point. "Everyone" thought the new Corvette/Mustang was going to be that much lighter - just going to be hard with all the government regulations and upgrades in tech. Not that I am complaining, that much, as the Camaro has great crash test ratings. I hope that you are correct

Have a new 1LE and you might have to buy another new car next year?

Thanks for funding the American recovery.

If they use a version of the Alpha chassis that is larger (which it is designed to be scale-able) it could be less than 300 lb difference and maybe more like 200 like you say.

But the next gen being considerably lighter I believe is already a done deal. Alpha is much lighter than Zeta, so at least we have a good foundation to start with. Look at the fullsize CTS sedan which starts in the 3,600 lb range. Still better than a V6 Camaro. Guess we can just wait and see!

I'll gladly buy your crappy 1LE from you so you can upgrade.

1LE > all, for me at least.

it looks fine, but ford already raped the hell out of the aston martin front end, so the new mustang already looks quite dated.

The difference is those two cars were already built on light weight platforms to begin with. It's hard to take a light car, add weight with performance upgrades and still lose weight over all. The Camaro was built on a sedan platform to different standards which made it heavier than it should have been. Now, put it on a platform designed from the beginning for light weight and make the car smaller and you will see a solid weight reduction.

Did the op really say he had no real reason to upgrade because his gto was comparable to a 1le?

I saw a 2015 Mustang at the auto show last week & while not a home run its a nice car. I really like the back. The front is ok but a little tweaking it would be so much better. I cant wait to drive one but that can lead to a lighter wallet...

My wife & I have been busy trying to stimulate the American economy with our vehicle purchases of the past 3 years. We put our 4 kids thru college & are empty nesters now so we've playing a bit.

LOL... Sounds like a mustang Guy! Or a disgruntle camaro owner! Talking about regardless of what the next Gen camaro look or perform like ! That's a mustang fanboy talk. But hey, you know where the door is!
