USAA Knows When You Cuss

I called USAA, and it asked for my USAA number. I said out loud halfway through the sentence, "I don't know my [expletive] USAA number." It automatically connected me to a person. That's [expletive] awesome.

Whatever works,

I'm sure some will find this offensive, but I have a buddy that won't talk to what he considers to be a person in a foreign call center. So he said he calls, anywhere, and we someone with an accent answers he hangs up. He calls back, accent, hangs up. Does that as many times as it takes til he gets what he feels is an American. Then again, could still be in India and just really good at their job, I didn't really want to point that out to him.

Not sure how this is applicable. I seriously doubt USAA uses a foreign call center. Never gotten anyone on the phone who sounded foreign and their customer service is generally only available during US working hours. They are based in Texas and cater exclusively to military members, veterans and their family members.

It' just a story I'm sharing about getting to a person you can actually talk to on the phone.

I think it works for Armed Forces Bank as well. I have an account with them as well as USAA and they messed up my online banking so I called and you talk to a computer and I would type all my info and then it asked for my pin, I gave it and it told me "No record found" so I did it once over same thing, the next time it did it I said "F you" then heard a dial tone and it switched me to a person

It's a shame when people think this way. I work for a global emergency company doing medevacs for people who get sick or injured during their travels. We're here in the US, but a lot of my coworkers are foreign born because the nature of our work requires people who speak multiple languages. Some of the foreign born doctors here are some of the most intelligent people I know, but even they (who are all US citizens) have been accused of "being in India" and hung up on by the people whose lives we're saving. Damn shame how ignorant some people can be.

I did hiring and recuriting for a Call Center for many years. Our call center was based in the US and we advised that all calls stay in the US, but we had employees with thick accents. The company is an international travel company and the reason we had employees with accents is because they spoke multiple languages so they could communicate with people in other countries. This was so the customer didn't have to call a country to book travel arrangements and get someone who might not speak English booking their service. Surprising people would still get upset when they got someone with an accent.
