Personally I think it's stupid. It may as well have been a hard top convertible at this point but instead it only takes out the tiny middle piece. Too much money invested in something so insignificant. I've never heard anyone complain of the "burden" of removing their targa top. Has to be a lot of added weight from this too.

And loss of storage space.

I like it at least it is way closer in concept of the original Targa than the previous ones where it was just a roof sized glass panel that slid back behind the rear glass, bonus points for retaining the silver vertical pillar between the side and rear glass ala the original Targa.

I'm completely underwhelmed by pretty much everything Porsche does these days.

Porsche hasn't provided the weights for the model yet, but they do indicate that it is not a significant weight difference over a traditional manual targa based on new weight reducing technologies and materials.

as far as loss of space, again the claim is no different than that of a manual targa and storing the roof in the rear hatch.

20 seconds to drop the targa vs. several minutes to remove and store manually with no impact on weight or performance.. I think it is a winner..

I'd rather have an actual convertible. Or a sunroof, if I'm looking to half-ass the open-top experience.

You realize this is a 911 right? The amount of storage space in the rear is insignificant in the first place. The trunk is in the front.

I think it's brilliant. ****ing brilliant. Some people like targa tops. And one that makes the change in less than 15 seconds by the push of a button doesn't scream stupid to me at all.
