New Colorado Diesel engine

The torque on this thing is intense for a tiny truck. How fast do you think this bad boy is going to be?

It's not as small as you think.

Yeah I over exaggerated but compared to the rest of the lineup it's quite noticeably smaller. Not that it's a bad thing! I think they're awesome

As long as GM doesn't do something stupid with the pricing, they'll sell like hotcakes.

Some of their pricing strategies have definitely made me raise an eyebrow lately (thinking ELR) knock on wood. Related to the acceleration - probably won't be as quick as the v6 to be honest, but should do well.

I also contacted Banks about aftermarket support and still haven't received a reply - hopefully some shops are willing to squeeze some more power out of it.

Power numbers aren’t yet available for the cleaner, urea-injected U.S. version of this engine, but the 2.8-liter makes 180 horsepower and 346 lb-ft of torque in the rest of the world.

I have a feeling the Diesel Colorado/Canyon will cost a premium and overlap with Silverado, pricing it out of the market it should be in.

GM has had issues pricing more than one car (see 1st Camaro hiatus).

Good luck with that one.

A lot has changed these past few years in the diesel performance world. Now days just about everything has to be CARB approved and a lot of shops have been getting in trouble for putting certain modifications on these newer diesels. Its actually become easier to do legal SMOG/CARB/EPA friendly performance mods to gas engines then diesel engines now. A lot of it has gone "underground" and strictly "word of mouth" Just look at Banks website, it use to be filled with "add 200hp now" ads and has been replaced by ads for his "hard" parts (CARB approved CAI, intercoolers and mpg driving coach's)

If that's the case I might get the v6 instead. Make it run like a champ with headers, cai, exhaust and a tune down the road after warranty

Since the LFX is also in the Camaro, there should be good aftermarket support. There are good ways to grab better throttle response and low end torque on the LFX....it will run excellent in this truck. Responds well to tunes.

You can forget about headers though...the LLT in the 10 and 11 Camaro supports headers, but the LFX uses one single exhaust outlet on each side of the engine, making headers impossible. High flow cats are a good alternative though.

The torque is awesome, and should be great for pulling towing, and keeping the rpms low when cruising around, but it won't be fast.

But I expect it to be able to achieve 30+ mpg in real world driving.
