our camaros in 2025?

so with the ridiculous 55 MPG CAFE standards set for 2025, what will happen with our camaros? obviously no one knows for sure, but will we need certain tags/titles or will those standards simply be for newly produced cars and anything before will still be valid?

I would think the current gen will still get a pass... if you think of the standards now do they rule out cars that don't meet them that are 5 years old ect. but I don't know anything about this so im just guessing!

All of the new standards are for new cars only i believe. like Josh said, older cars dont need to meet new emissions/ safety standards. It would be crazy for the govt to say in 2025 that every person who owns a car needs to scrap it and get a new 55mpg car. And is it a fleetwide average like now, where our rating of 20 or whatever is balanced by a 40mpg from a cruze?

CAZfE doesn't apply to previously built cars. This does not preclude additional laws adding cost register or insure existing cars.

Now. Let's assume we get a news Camaro every 6 years

2010
2016
2022
2028

Next Gen should be a quantum leap maybe not for FE but in overall performance and refinement.

The 2022 (??) would need to be the car capable of meeting the new CAFE standards.

Also the new CAFE is not 55 for all cars. It is based on the footprint of the car.

The 2016 CAFE standard is 35.5 mpg
Thats Gen6. So does that make Gen5 go up in value

the standard is for all vehicles across the manufactures line, their "over-all" rating. Not for a single specific vehicle.

So in my mind if GM produces enough high MPG cars for the waves of mindless sheep that are so stuck in the MPG world (while driving their prius' 90+ on the highway making the high MPG they get pointless), then the Vette's and Camaro's should be fine..

Not quite. Each model will have a requirement based on the footprint of the vehicle. Basically wheelbase x track. So even a Camaro will have a high target relative to today.

CAFE...doesn't seem to have any impact on my '70 Buick. If it did, I'm sure the CAFE Inquisition would burn me at the stake
