I was an HT2 in Navy for 8 years now. Two tours in the Middle East. Now that I'm an MA2, I'm going to be redeployed for another year there, and yes after my 8 years, I too became a weekend warrior. I love what I've done active, and I love what I do in the reserves. I would never trade it for anything in the world.

This thread should have been removed by the mods. The comments by Bottle are ill advised to say the least and will only server to stoke ire against him.

To those that have served and continue to serve, Thank you.

This is a SHIT statement and if I were you I would try to delete this post and grab your dignity while its still intact and run! I was a weekend warrior and now I AM retired after serving 23 years and spending 5 total years in OIF /OEF. We will have a good chuckle about your ignorance at my next meeting for diabled American vets.

To the weekend warrior comment. GET A LIFE! Look at the USCG. Those weekend warriors run out in storms, ice and heavy seas to save lives every time they are "Sitting at a base" as you say. I have the utmost respect for every person who serves, especially those in the USCG. They literally put their lives at risk on those weekends. You should be careful in how you disrespect them, because one weekend you will be stuck at sea on your weekend off. That reserve unit is going to save your life!

Active Duty, 21+ years and still counting. The first 6 years were as an Electrician's Mate in the U.S. Navy. The following three years were spent as a U.S. Army PATRIOT missile system maintainer/operator, and the last 13+ have been spent as an Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) technician.

Deepest respect for all those who came before, are currently beside, or will follow me.

Best quote out there: " All gave some...Some gave All"
