Right...Who's going to buy a video game console for it's "entertainment" package?

I disagree. I think they bought it because it's a game console, and for one, or a combination of, four reasons (none of which have anything to do with it's "entertainment" package)
1) That's where their friends are and they play a lot of multiplayer.
2) They don't want to lose their achievements
3) They like Microsoft exclusives like Halo
4) They're fanboys

That's just conjecture, but I haven't heard anyone talk about anything the XBone did entertainment wise for more than just a few words. Of course, xboners like to talk about how great their $100 CAMERA is voice VOICE commands...Still don't understand that one...But hey, it's your life.

Can you please quote me, where i said Sony sucks

I do lean towards xbox, but i have been open minded between the two new systems. Just trying to gather information between the two. You on the other hand, have your blinders on, and think that because something bad is said about the PS4, that means that person hates everything Sony.

As of this moment, i'm still leaning towards xbone. I'm looking at ps4, and can't find much difference between that and the ps3, minus slightly better graphics and an updated controller. I'm not a huge gamer, but i do play here and there. Don't really have many friends that play, and don't have any achievements that i care about. With the xbone, i'll be using the console when not playiing games, so it will be used a lot more. Even with the 360, i feel it's a waste of space for a lot of the time. I get in spurts when playing games.

I fit in to none of those four categories. Of the gaming friends I play with that bought the next gen, they where about 50/50. Some bought the PS4, some went Xbox 1. The majority haven't switched yet at all. They are still playing BF4 on the 360/PC/ or PS3. Achievements are worthless and made no deciding factor when choosing a next gen system. I got tired of Halo years ago, never played Forza either and have no plans to. I couldn't even bother to tell you what the other proprietary titles are because it doesn't interest me. I stick to the mainstream games which are available on all consoles. As for being a fanboy, I've owned both Sony and Microsoft products.

I bought it for all the additional features that the PS4 doesn't have.

ESPN for College Games
NFL for tracking fantasy stats during games
Skype for talking with foreign work Suppliers
The UI is much more fluid and defined as well as customizable
The Controller is more comfortable
Snap feature for a Picture in Picture and having other apps running (Multitasking)
Intuitive voice control of my TV and Cable

All the above features for me far outweigh the hardware differences or free games. Both of which I either wont notice, or ever use. That justifies the extra $100 for a more well rounded system.

Good article...

"The 2 million Xbox One figure represents units sold-through to consumers. On average, more than 111,111 units have been sold per day, described as a "record-setting pace for Xbox," Microsoft said. More than 1 million systems were sold on launch-day alone.

Those who have purchased an Xbox One so far are showing "incredible engagement" with the system, Microsoft said. Users have spent more than 83 million hours in games, TV, and apps since launch on November 22. Including both digital games and video purchases, users have been responsible for more than 1 million paid transactions on Xbox Live so far.

“We continue to be humbled and overwhelmed by the positive response from our fans. We are thrilled to see sales of Xbox One on a record-setting pace, with over 2 million Xbox One consoles in homes around the world. Demand is exceeding supply in our 13 launch markets and Xbox One is sold out at most retailers. We’re also particularly excited to see consumers engaging in a wide range of games and entertainment experiences on the platform, with more than 1 million paid transactions on Xbox Live to date,” Microsoft marketing executive Yusuf Mehdi said in a statement.

Microsoft added that Xbox One owners have unlocked more than 39 million achievements worth a combined 595 million total Gamerscore.

The company's announcement today also includes quotes from various big-name retailers. Amazon director of video games said at peak demand, customers were ordering the Xbox One at over 1,000 units per minute. Meanwhile, GameStop merchandising executive Bob Puzon described the Xbox One as "one of our hottest selling products this holiday season." Wal-Mart VP of entertainment Chris Nagelson said the Xbox One was a "top-seller" on Black Friday and that the company is refreshing its inventory "as fast as we can" to ensure customers can purchase the system for Christmas."

That it is and it points to the fact that many of their users are using it for far more than video gaming. Thus proving the fact people will buy it as an entertainment system.

O.K. None of those features make any sense or hold any weight for me.

I don't follow sports.

Skype is much better on my laptop or cell phone.

The UI on the PS4 is much quicker and easier. At least I can tell how much HDD space I have left.

Controller comfort is totally subjective, but the DS 4 is LEAGUES above the 360s controller. The XBones controller feels about the same in the hands, and I personally don't like the XBones clicky ass dpad.

I've seen Snap, and it was too small to be useful to me personally, plus the audio in the main screen and the snap screen play at the same volume at the same time, and its a mess. If I could mute snap, I could see a value in that.

I didn't find voice control intuitive at all. In fact, because I was talking about the XBox while checking it out, it would do crazy things just cuz I said xbox. Then, when I wanted it to do something, I had to be VERY specific. "XBox Play Ryse" does nothing. "XBox Play Ryse Son of Rome" will actually launch the game. Then I couldn't remember when I had to say "turn." I think it was "Xbox On" and "XBox Turn Off" but I could have those reversed.

Just because those features dont work for you, doesnt make the system garbage. Let the OP and others figure it out for themselves based on what they want. If they want a system with the best hardware, go PS4. If they want to do more than game, Xbox one takes the cake.

I can tell you with certainty Skype is not better on your PC or Phone. For one you need to be either holding your phone or sitting right in front of your computer. The Kinect camera follows your movement keeping you in the center of the picture. I was able to show suppliers samples by moving about my room as the camera followed my movement. Try doing that on your laptop or phone without having to buy an external device.

PS4's UI is not quicker. Reviews have shown it.

There is a learning curve to the Voice control. Once you figure it out you can navigate the system quicker than using your controller. Its very intuitive.

You implied that PS Plus was somehow inferior or a lesser value to XBox live since you now had to pay for it to play multiplayer. When countered, your argument was "You're going to pay for it anyway."

Again, no blinders on. Facts guys. Facts. I've said what makes XBone a better choice for someone, and what makes PS4 a better choice for someone using facts.

Fact: Optimization will always favor the PS4. It's bus speed is faster. It doesn't have a camera and "entertainment" stuff to run that, at current estimates, is stealing about 30% of the XBones resources.

Fact: A PS4s HDD is easily replaceable at any time with any standard notebook hdd without voiding your warranty.

Fact: In less than 3 years, PS Plus has offered over 230 free games to subscribers.

Fact: PS4's ability to be remote played on a Vita is awesome and works excellently (I've been playing AC IV from 200 miles away all week).

From my perspective, other than PS4 just being a better value and more powerful, their first party studios make better exclusives. I chose my next gen console based on the games it played, and how I could play those games.

Irocnroll loves other "entertainment" and "productivity" features of the XBone, and that's cool. That's not at all why I spend a chunk of change on a gaming console, but if that's of a major value to you, knock yourself out.

I never said the system was garbage. I said the KINECT is garbage (and that was in another thread). The games made for Kinect, with the exception of dance central, don't work!

The PS4s UI is MUCH quicker. I don't know what reviews you're reading, but from zero to launch of any of the multiplatform games, the PS4 wins EVERY TIME, whether you download that game, or play from a disc.

Holding my phone...Uh...Not a big deal, and I don't have to stay in one room...

Oh, and I don't want my Kinect following me anywhere. When I do buy an XBone (and I probably will next year), that thing will NEVER be plugged in. It will not watch me, and listen to my conversations. Sorry...Not gonna happen.

I wasn't implying anything. I was responding to DarkneSS, when he said you pay a premium for xbox live, and was just mentioning that you also have to pay for ps+ for the multiplayer stuff.

Their words describing their direction is clearly shown in the system and overall model where bringing down the media barriers (combining all media outlets in ONE device *hint the name*) and combining skype with espn and netflix is more a focus point than say the the support of the indie developers community just an example. In any case this is all IN MY HUMBLE OPINION anyway.
Just because the XB1 is capable of being the hub of entertainment doesn't mean it can't deliver an equally awesome gaming experience as the PS4. IMO, both systems are gaming systems first, entertainment second. Realistically they both do the exact same thing. The only difference, as far as entertainment goes, is you can plug in a cable box into the XB1. Which means squat to me as I don't nor want cable television for how much it goes around here. The PS4 might cater more to indie developers, but that doesn't mean you won't see indie games on the XB1.

I believe each console has their strong and weak points, for me the defining differences would be the controller and the console exclusives. That's why I chose the XB1. There's other reasons also, but those are the two main ones.
