WOW, this rendering looks incredible. But my guess it will be a turbo charged GT350 instead.

Btw, I think it looks stunning in Ingot Silver.

I always use silver as a gauge as to if a car is hot or not. If it looks good in silver to me then it is a very good design. I have to agree. This car looks very good in silver.

This is what I'm taking about. This new mustang has so much potential for greatness. I believe that this will push the GM boys to make the new Camaro great which is good for all of us.

The more I look at it, the more confused I get. At a glance, the rear looks ok, but the front end looks exaggerated, and a meld of something else. It just seems like it's too damn long up front. Can't put my finger on it.

Safe to say it's not a dramatic enough or earth-shattering change up to sway me. That's been Mustang's problem for me from the get go. It doesn't mesmerize me like the Camaro does. But let's keep up with the rivalry with each other because that makes both cars better for either camp.

Obviously the P-51 association is the one you're supposed to be making with "Ground speed" on the speedometer and while that's cool once you fully grasp the relationship, that probably does reach a bit too far for all those folks who won't.

Those who aren't airplane buffs (you) or WWII history buffs (edit - I just realized what day today is) or old enough to remember when the Mustang was only the name of an airplane still in active U.S. military service (me) won't make the connection unless Ford conspicuously points it out.

I'll say this about the next Camaro as compared with this new Mustang: as someone who has no interest in a V8 if it's not in a truck or Corvette
Mind if I ask why you don't care for V8 power elsewhere? Would it make any difference if the V8 had a flat crank or came stock with an X-pipe and had a different sound? Just curious (and FWIW I care less about cylinder count than whether the performance suits me).

This last page has had too much logical thinking.

I too am curious if GM will develop a 4 cylinder option to compete.

I like the new refresh - still keeps some of the Stang's iconic looks. I just hope it doesn't have the same Chinese made manual tranny, will come with a standard USB port without having to pay for a tech package, and the brembo package will have all 4 brembo calipers/rotors instead of only the fronts. It still looks like the moonroof won't be an option, which would suck. Those were all the things that made my decision in picking up my '13 SS over a Mustang a lot easier; plus the IRS on the Camaro as it's my DD.
I'm looking forward to seeing what Chevy will do next with the '16 Camaro. I like how the new Mustang doesn't come with a 4x4 height ride

Non 4 wheel drive has been LONG overdue.

I see bit of the Camaro in the rear quarter panel. That "hippiness" has been a GM trademark for a while. Also it has the reverse Mohawk in the roof which has been on the Camaro and Corvette for some time now.

So it takes a few things from GM, uses the fusion front end, tweaks the old tail lights. So nothing really unique to me.

That being said, it is in totality a well balanced looking car. It's not a big WOW, but I would certainly take it over the current Mustang if forced to make that choice.

I think the big difference will be on the road. What does the IRS bring to the table, what does the reduced weight do with the 5.0 under the hood?

I think the will be pretty significant when we understand the whole performance picture as well as the looks.

Believe me, I'm not expecting a lot of buyers - especially the younger ones Ford is trying to go after - to get the relationship. I do think (or maybe just hope) that it'll be something that most buyers will think is odd, but not be bothered by it. I'd hate to see it go the way of the retro speedometer/tach font from the 2010 Camaro.

Speaking for myself, I think those little touches count for a lot no matter what brand or kind of car you get, and even if most people don't get it, that Ford put that effort in is something I appreciate.

As a car, I think those details help make the new Mustang look really good, and that is of course the most important consideration here.

Not at all, and the answer is pretty much the same as what you said: the V6 (or turbo-4, it seems) performance suits me. Between the speed limits here in southeastern PA and my daily commute (6 miles each way, none on the highway), I'd just be paying a price and insurance premium for performance I'd almost never use.

They do nothing to help the braking on the car and putting them on would on increase the weight as a separate mechanism would be needed to incorporate a parking brake.
My bone stock Boss 302's MT82 manual trans has not given me problems- like grinding or sticky clutch during high speed or spirited driving (knocking on wood) so it's not a widespread endemic issue IMO. I also have a few friends who have stock shifters & trans and no probs neither... they routinely autox or hpde occasionally too. The stock shifter gets a 8/10 rating for me so an upgrade to like the MGW will really help improve the accuracy and lessen notchiness. I do agree and hope the S550 improves on this.

And in regards to USB ports... all 2012 Boss 302 models did not come with it and same with base V6 units, nada. Only an aux jack and no Bluetooth neither. It's as no-frills/barebones as you can get. Has cruise control though... go figure.
