Not an old timer here but I was riding in a baby seat being that 1973 was the year I was born. Child seat in the back seat of a 1973 Road Runner with no mufflers so my parents couldn't hear me crying over the major drone. lol

Judging by some of the responses I am guessing there may only be a few driving back then. Heck I graduated high school in 1969. Got my drivers license when I was 16. So I started driving in about 1966. Ya, I guess I am old.

1973

Got married in February. Graduated from college on December 14th. Turned 21 on December 20th. Drove my first "new car" a green
1971 Rally Nova - sticker price was $2770.70. Options were floor shifter & rear deck speaker (AM radio only) I added a cassette player, chrome rally wheel trim wheels then later chrome reverse wheels. As soon as the 12000 warrenty was over I added dual exhaust, Z-28 heads, Hooker headers, Edelbrock high rise manifold, Holley 750 cfm 4 barrel carb, and a cam.

Not mine - but same color combo

I believe I was driving a 62 VW, but my wife at the time was driving my 69 Camaro. Your wish I still owned the Camaro.

My 74 Camaro I bought in October of 73 had an MSRP of $3,850. A Vega GT of the same year had a MSRP of $3,500. At first I was going to trade my 71 Vega for the 74 GT, but when I saw the Camaro was just $350 more I changed my mind... Unfortunately a year later I got laid off and was out of work for a year so I ended up selling my Camaro. I got another one in 1980, then had to sell that one when my son was born in 81.
In January of 2009 I put my deposit down and order in on a 2010 Rally Yellow LS. In April of 2009 just as my car was cued to be built I was "Retired" by my company that I had worked for for 32 years. I had to cancel my order at that time until I could see what was going to happen. By late October 2009 I came up with a plan, sell My Saturn Sky and my El Camino and pay cash for a new Camaro. It only took me one week to sell the Sky and another week to sell the El Camino. I then put my order in for a Rally Yellow 1LT which I took delivery on on New Year's Eve. A year and a half later I got a deal I couldn't resist on the 2012 1LT Camaro I have today. Hopefully I can keep this one for a while.

Fitting into the 'Ole Timer' category, I was driving a very bad ass '69 Camaro that I bought with my own money after selling my '55 Chevy. I put so much money into that car, but I loved every minute that I spent building it. When I got married, my wife complained constantly about having to shift gears (competition clutch) and no A/C. After around 3 years of her begging for a car with an automatic transmission and A/C, I sold it for $1800. I regretted selling that car from the moment the little punk drove away in it after his daddy paid me for it.

For the first 9 months I drove a 1971 Vega Hatcback. For the rest of the year a 1974 Camaro Sports Coupe.

No more baby buggys, bicycles, Tricycles or other pedal or push powered vehicles please...
I updated the original post so you can understand it means you have to had been old enough to have a drivers license in 1973.
