Rumor is the ATS-V will get a 3.2L TTV6 making close to 500 HP.

I wonder what kind of turbo's GM is going to use. At 12 psi for a twin turbo set up there is a lot of room for tuning. Turbo'd engines respond extremely well to tuning.

I saw that rumor as well. Not sure I believe it yet, but we'll see!

I found this and posted it in another thread, but it is pretty interesting as to the potential of this engine (similar to most modern turbo engines). Basically says there is plenty left on the table.

Quote:
In dissecting the ECU programming, there are specific torque target tables, and the ECU is empowered to do many things to get to those levels, including throttle reduction, boost reduction and timing reduction. We saw the throttle drop close to 50% right after spoolup in some cases which is where the little drop off in torque comes from. But later runs showed less torque here as the ECU learned and was more predictive. This would be less prevalent on the road because the load on the dyno is somewhat higher especially at low rpms, causing the boost response to be more aggressive. The ECU is arguably the most complex spark ignition ECU that GM has ever used. Not only do we have target torque tables, but the torque models includes things like turbocharger compressor efficiency, predicted turbocharger turbine speeds, and many other variables. I can't wait to start tuning them as based upon the way ECU is limiting the output in stock form, this engine will easily pump out 500+ lbs-ft of torque and 460-480 hp with minimal mods/tuning and should come close to matching the old CTS-V acceleration wise when doing so (I own a 2010 CTS-V 6MT myself). And as JK said, what does this tell us about the next CTS-V? Can't wait.

... I seriously want an ATS-V with this engine now... To the point where I might spend less on mods, and more on saving for this bad boy... 500 HP in a slick little 3200 lbs car, with the amazing handling that the ATS has, and V6 fuel economy?! Perfect car or what?!

No current ATS model weighs only 3200 lbs.

Don't forget there are rumors that Buick will reintroduce the Grand National and GNX name plates with the LF3 as the most likely motor.

Grand National might be a little less expensive. I don't really need all the luxuries and super advanced tech... No sat nav, none of that crap. I just need that engine, a manual transmission, rear drive, and heated seats. Everything else is optional.

I'd guess the ATS-V to be well into the 3,400 lb range.

Even so, it will be stupid fast.

Chances are an ATS with this engine would weigh slightly more than a regular V6 model. Additional turbochargers, cooling, and drivetrain to handle the power.

If they put this in the next gen Camaro GM is going to have Ford on it's heels briefly. From what I read the next Mustang has a turbo at 320hp and won't be upgrading the 5.0 for a while.

Everything I've seen about 6th gen Camaro: decent 4 cylinder, turbo 6 with 420 HP, and a new v8 engine making more power. If the design is right GM is going to hit another home run.
