Just playing Devil's Advocate here... could the volatility have been a sign of the times? I doubt it would be much better at the moment, having come off a shutdown, though.

What he said. Never been on a political forum. Was hoping to find a place to talk with people like I do on here but about current events.

Now a current events thread is a possibility. We don't have one of those per se. I fear that could also become quite political though.

What about a C5 non-vehicular news forum with subforums in domestic and international news? Could be placed under the off topic discussions.

Thats another part of the problem, there's always going to be something happening. There will always be a hot topic in politics: be it an upcoming election (or fallout from the last one), a big debate over an important issue, a new scandal, a recently introduced policy ... it never ends.

And this is why you're a mod, not me.

I'll admit, there is almost no way to talk current events without it turning political. You know, here in off topics you could bring up anything else, cancer research or they discovered little green men on Mars or whatever, but actual things like that from the news run out real quick and what's left is politics.

IMHO I see Camaro5 as an oasis from what is going on in the world. It is nice to go to a place that doesn't have politics in it. The moderators do a fantastic job to keep this site an enjoyable one.

Craigslist. There are discussion forums there and politics is one of them

I disagree. You just probably need a couple of mods to watch it, as their main focus. I've been part of another car forum since 2003, with a politics section. It's a pretty active car site as well.

Agreed. If there were 1-2 dedicated mods for a politics section I don't feel it would be bad.

I'm glad that there's no politics on C5. Let's keep it that way

WORD! I can't tell you how relieved I was to come here during the government shut down and not see ANYONE debating over it.
