Where do you go to talk about...

Politics, where do you go to talk about it?

Let me be very clear that I don't want to start something that is against the rules. So no left, right, center, just a forum name or two.

But while I'm at it, why can't we have a politics forum on here? And I'm serious. I understand what problems can occur. I worked in bars and restaurants for 15 years so just throw some alcohol on it and it explodes. But some sub, separate, sub, sub, way sub under something forum marked very clearly with "ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK".

Anyway, until that day comes, someone tell me where to go.

I'm with you man! We definatly need a spot on C5 for politics. I know FerrariChat has one (and I'm sure other car forums as well, that's just the only other one I'm familiar with) so C5 needs to catch up. If you do find one, let me know! I'll be on the lookout as well

If you ever need to vent about something in the mean time PM me, we'll find out pretty quickly if we see eye to eye (sneaky suspicion that we do).

Of all people I thought you'd be all over this! I disagree... If the mods are strict about keeping it in that particular sub forum, it shouldn't be a problem. I say we should at least do a trial run.

We tried that, it didn't work. Things tended to 'spill over' into other areas, and it would even spread into completely unrelated topics. Its gave a bad vibe to the site as a whole -even though it was one little section down near the bottom of the forum list.

As for places to discuss politics, there's one site I used to visit but its Canada-centric, so probably not what you'd be looking for. Which reminds me ... since political views tend to be personal, a site that one of us likes (perhaps a small site that caters to a particular extreme viewpoint) might not be what you're interested in (say a large site full of moderates)

They did when the site opened, and then they shut it down in 2008 I believe. I would want it to make a return, but it won't happen.

From the inception of this site we've tried to moderate with as little interference and censoring of opinions and topics as possible. However, political and religious discussions on the site have proven themselves to be overheated and derogatory at times, requiring an increasingly disproportionate amount of moderating attention. This has happened with such frequency as to require that moderator's time and attention be shifted away from the subject this forum centers around -- the Camaro. In addition, the strong disagreements (and at times arguments) developing between members of the site participating in political discussions has sometimes spilled over into non-political discussions on the forum.

This was not an easy choice to make, but we feel it is the lesser of two evils. We hope you understand and will comply. Thanks in advance.

We volunteered to moderate a Camaro forum, not a politics forum. When we had a political sub-forum, we spent so much of our time watching it (to make sure nobody was crossing the line) that we couldn't follow the rest of the site properly. It didn't work.

It didn't last nearly that long. We open it during the summer of 2008, and closed it in the early fall of 2008.

Politics don't work on car forums.

I don't blame you, I can only now imagine the amount of time that would consume. Consider your point well taken, topic closed as far as I'm concerned.
