Malibu is so far removed from the original models it's not even funny. Then again that's probably a good thing.

Impala's body lines are supposed to emulate classic Impalas. In fact in the reveal video it morphed from an older Impala.

I agree with the Malibu and love the look of the Impala. Why did they remove the Malibu from its older brother? It looked way better.

The problem with Malibu is it's a globally designed car. As in every market Malibu is sold in had input in the development.

While that's smart as it saves costs, it also creates a mess of different design cues. A common criticism of Malibu is it looks like a team of designers designed the car from the B pillar forward and another team from the B pillar back, then GM bolted the two designs together.
