Biggest disappointments with new C7 Corvette

Saw one at my local dealer, beautiful machine!

A couple things that bugged me, 1... rear tires, 285's. I like the 325's on the C6's.

Red calipers, $595.00?!

I agree, why would they put cheap tires on this car! I was looking at the c7 last week at a dealership, and the car only has 245 on the front!. Not sure who dropped the ball, but I wasnt happy seeing it either. I am sure they will justify it with some Bs, telling us, it was designed to handle better with these tires lol. But I always like the idea of More grip. The Zl1 I just bought have unbelievable tires and rims, I wonder if it is possible to order the ZL1 tires and swap them over? problem solved??. Hopefully there are no other unpleasant suprises.

So if a car is designed with a smaller tire to handle better, lap faster, get better mpg's and cost less to replace you guys are still mad because they are to small? Some people will always find a reason to complain...

um its a sports car not a family sedan so i dont think mpg really matter i rather have so fat ass tires in the back den 1-2 mpg... every sport car has big tires in the back atleast all the premium ones...

the back rim doesnt even concave or any thing thats the only thing i dont like about the c7 the rear wheel lol... other than that its a bad ass car

Agree on the comment about concave rims. I absolutely LOVE the C7....but dang, it would look so much better with concave rims. To me, the flat rims take some of the "sport" out of the look. I've seen one or two photoshopped concave rims on the new Corvette and it truely enhances the already sexy look.

But I'm willing to bet that the Z06/ZR1 versions will have wider and concave wheels....which will look BAD@SS

the car doesnt need huge wide tires to do what it does.

and i agree with not being a fan of the wheels. i mean i like the style but would love it if there was some kind of lip or some concavity to them they would look alot nicer.

Are the red calipers factory or dealer installed? And if they are from the dealer, are they new calipers getting swapped in or are they repainting yours for you? If its the last one, the price seems fairly reasonable given whats involved.

You both realize that the base C6 also had 245s up front and 285s out back, right? And before that, they were 245s and 275s for the C5. Plus, I'm pretty sure that oversteer is a much bigger problem for Corvettes than understeer is, which means that the rear tires lose grip before the fronts do. Bigger front tires won't fix that.

If you want more tire, wait for the eventual Z06 (or perhaps Z07) and ZR1.

*edit*
I also wouldn't call $300+ Pilot Sports 'cheap', they're not crazy expensive but definitely not cheap.

Agreed. GM has the aggressive aesthetic mods already in the hopper for those models.

A rim that's "concave" or has a lip has nothing to do with tire size. Hell my last trans am had 275's out back with a 2" lip and now the zr1's I have on my z28 are 315's with only a 1" lip. Plus show me a vette wheel in the last 20yrs that has a fat lip on it.

I would have loved to seen a retro stringray hood, but other than that I'm really not disappointed at all.

Stock wheels are usually the first things to go anyway. Probably why GM did not put that nice of a wheel on it. Same with the tires.
