Exactly. The Zimmerman case turned into a self-defense case, not a SYG case. Mostly because when Zimmerman claimed he was knocked to the ground, there was no escape. SYG says you don't have the duty to flee, but you can. The self-defense portion revolved around what he claimed was the inability to flee, which resulted in a self-defense action. Had there been no situation where he was knocked to the ground, it would have been a SYG case.

Disclaimer: Not validating any details on the case, just why it was argued in the manner that it was. I wasn't there. I saw nothing.

In the case of the SUV, it would have been the same issue while he had room to move. When he made the decision to speed away, it was a SYG case (because he also could have opted to not flee). Once caught in that final traffic, he would have had nowhere to flee, in which case it would turn into a self-defense argued suit.

I can tell you prolly what happened and yes...I am assuming here. I am not sure how many of you have ridden in a group of bikes a couple hundred deep but we ride in the group not for the "pack mentality" but because it actually safer...safer for what to be exact. Safer to act a fool which we all have done esp when we were younger and some of us still do. Now my guess is the SUV driver was aggravated that he couldnt pass the bikers and became aggressive. Ive seen it a million times. He prolly made his way in the middle of the group of riders and again I assuming here, and ran a few off the road and at least made them move from their lane. There was something to make the one bike brake check the SUV. We will never know without video evidence.

The SUV driver still may be charged.

All I can say what is good for the goose is good for the gander. I would have done what both the bikers and the SUV driver did depending on which shoes I was wearing. How is that for being PC lol

Have you watched their videos? They were not riding as a group. They were taking over the highway, slowing traffic so they could do stunts.

Can't say I was there... but pretty sure I'd have done the same thing as him.

Speak for yourself.

Just because you're in a giant group of people doesn't mean you now have free reign to be as much of an a$$hat as you want without repercussions. You are still obligated to obey all traffic laws whether you're in a group of 100+ or you're by yourself.

When a group of motorcyclists impede the normal flow of traffic by taking over multiple lanes and passing other motorists by mere inches, they are inviting confrontation. And I can guarantee you with 100% confidence that it will always end worse for the 2-wheeled vehicles than it will for the 4-wheeled.

The simple fact is, these younger kids get on their relatively inexpensive high power-to-weight ratio sport bikes and instantly begin to think they're invincible, especially when surrounded by like-minded riders. They fail to understand the true consequences of their actions until it's way past the point of no return.

Part of that is being young. Part of that is how they're raised. Part of that is this change in society telling kids that there's always someone else they can blame instead of blaming their own actions. All of that is going to get themselves killed, maimed, or imprisoned if they continue that path of thinking for too long. Some kids are lucky and recognize how stupid they're being before it catches up to them. Others...not so much.

Not saying I don't agree with you guys or at least most of what was said. The points you guys have made is what I suspect made the SUV driver aggravated. Doesn't give him the right to run bikers off the road. If I was a gambling man I would bet on the SUV driver being charged as well.

If I have my wife and kid(s) in the car and you pose a threat to any of our lives I will run you over plain and simple. Look at the videos from earlier they where asking for trouble the minute they started to almost cause a bunch of accidents.
