I don't think it is a dumb comparison, I do think it's kind of silly that a lot of people are gloating over the results. ..
it's a totally redesigned sports car with performance technology that far exceeds the motor with adjustable shocks on a log axle found in the GT500. The Corvette was supposed to (and did) beat the Shelby in everything but straight lines. Why did anyone expect anything different?

There's nothing to get. In one man's opinion, they are different classes, in another man's opinion they are the top performance models of their respective brands. Who cares, it's all a matter of opinion and both are valid points of view.

I have a 14 GT500 and its exactly what I wanted, so its a "better" car for me, than the 'Vette.. The roads where I live are straight and flat, so anyone with a new C7 that decides to "test" their new car against mine is still going to have to explain to the wife/gf why their car is slower....

Lightning lap times were set by hipster journalists in skinny jeans. I'll put my trust in Randy Pobst at Laguna Seca.

That's not a fair test though. On one hand it shows respect to the power of those Mustangs, but geez.

It wasnt meant to be fair. It was simply comparing the most capable Mustang vs the newest Corvette.

I love the C7, but I'm waiting for the 2015 Mustang to show it's cards before I make the leap to a new car. I love my GT and it will definitely hold me over for a while, but the Coyote is getting DI and anywhere between 450 to 475hp, the new Mustang is rumored to be in the ball park of about 3,400 pounds, and if Ford get the IRS right, that will be the next car for me.

Someone also ran the C7 in the standing mile, it ran 159.5mph
For comparison, a stock 13 GT500 ran 174.7mph |

Makes sense that its faster. Not in the same class, but the ZL1 actually is its direct competitor.
