so take a four seater GT car that started in 2005, with minor changes to suspension, and compare that to a newly refreshed two seater flagship car? yea that makes sense....

Ford is the direct competitor to Chevrolet.
Corvette is probably the top performance car on Chevrolet.
The Mustang is the top performance car on Ford. (In recent times)
The GT500 makes upwards of 600hp while the base Corvette makes upwards of 500hp.

How can they not be compared?

Everybody knows this isn't a fair test. However, it's a comparison of the highest performing modern cars from GM and Ford. Ford really needs to bring back the Ford GT (or something similiar). If not, they will keep getting shut down by the Corvette....especially when the C7 Z06/ZR1 come out. Yeah, Ford is introducing the next gen Mustang soon but I don't see the GT500 version beating the C7 Z06/ZR1.

I thought the GT500 was Fords "Flagship" car?

Context is very different. In the context of the other thread that post was establishing pecking order in the individual model lines.

Nope, not everyone gets it!

I deleted my post because i can see you are going to rope me into a stupid argument where you actually try to justify comparing anything Chevrolet makes to a gt3. Go drive one.

The GT500 is a 3800+ LB Pony car. The Vette is a 3200LB Sports Car with the Higher end models (Z06 and ZR1 being closer to the supler-car class)

The new Vette is a Beast.

However, the link provide clearly shows that both tests are horrible (113 Trap for a 450+ HP Vette is laughable, it should be closer to 117-118 with a driver that knows where the gas pedal is)

Both cars are capable of much more.

Looking back, the ZL1 did not dominate the GT500 as the OP insinuated. It pulled "SLIGHTLY" faster Road Course times, but was (Literally) Destroyed in the 1/4 mile stock for stock by the GT500. As an enthusiast and not a fan boy, I'd say that is a great competition by two amazing cars. I love both the Mustang and Camaro lineup as well as the Vette lineup.

Each car is purpose built. A fair comparison is the ZL1 vs. GT500, Z51 Vette/Z06/ZR1 vs. Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini and so on. When the Ford GT was out, it was Ford's Flagship car and trumped (at the time) the Vette Flagship Z06.

Who knows what the future holds, I hope the competition grows and moves on and flourishes.
