Yup, I agree on it being the best Harley but it is shunned by the Harley Community

The deal I made with the wife was I must sell the bike for the Camaro...
Easy choice in my mind. But I do love that bike... but not as much as my Camaro SS.

Though discontinued, the Star Warrior is a cruiser that will give you sport bike like handling in a cruiser package.

I had a CBR600RR for a few years, but my neck/back/shoulders couldn't deal with it anymore, so I sold it. About a year later, I bought a Suzuki M109R. It is a good bit more comfortable, but having recently moved to an area filled with idiot drivers, I've put it up for sale.

No, but I went from a softail, Rocker, which was badass looking, to a Street Glide, which has the softer engine mounts and suspension and is way more comfortable.

Obviously you are a person that cars about style. But may I suggest looking at the Road King, it's a heavy bike and you might even call it an old man bike, but look at some of the custom jobs where the windshield is removed and it has the hard saddle bags not the leather like the classic. Throw a factory "custom" paint job on there and it's sharp. Then you'll have a very comfortable very good looking bike.

We probably have totally different outlooks on riding, I'm not the oldest guy in the forum, in fact I'm not even close to the oldest guy commenting on this thread, but knowing what I know now, if I was shopping for a bike now I would probably be looking for a HD Road King, something like this.

That style reminds me of the new Star Bolt.
I love HD's but $20,000 is a lot of coin to join.

Yamaha V-Max. 193 horse power. Cruiser style. Serious power.

Well remember they aren't all 20k, the new Road King is a little more actually and I think you can go up to close to 40k in the CVO's, but you can certainly get down into the mid or even low teens for a softail. Maybe a Sportser is quite a bit cheaper than that. And they've made some real improvements to the styling of the Sportsters too in the last several years.

To each his own though, it was always my dream since I was young to own a Harley, I've now had two.

2013 V-Max. If I had the money for a Harley, I'd spend it on this instead.

V-max is an awesome motorcycle, but that price tag.

Vmax has a 90 mile range if you are light on the throttle...but it is a nice bike so long as you don't mind stopping for gas often.

Anyone else here went from sportbikes to cruisers?
I did... Rode sportbikes for close to 10 years, then switched over to crusiers for a little bit. Then ended up going back to a sportbike.

Since you're keeping your R1, I'd say look into all kinds of cruisers.

While I really enjoyed the commute on my cruiser(s), I never really got the "rush" I used to have from riding when I was on a sportbike. Something about a sportbike just does it for me compared to a cruiser.

Then again, I did a lot of track days with my 02 GSX-R1000, and once you've experienced road racing, everything else just leaves you wanting.

In a perfect world, I'd have one of everything in terms of bikes. Dirt, street and track(road racing) but then I'd be up to my eye balls in debt, or never work because I'd be on two wheels all the time

I can't remember the factory mpg on my Street Glide, but after pipes and a tune it comes down some. Think I got 42 on average, little better on the highway. With a 6 gal tank, once you run out of gas you're ready to stretch your legs for a minute anyway.

Other benefits to something like a HD Street Glide, over the Road King I posted a pic of above, the Street Glide comes with AM/FM/CD built right in with a very easy add on of XM and you can plug your phone or mp3 player into it. So the radio is nice. Had a guy ask me about it the other day, if I could hear it. Yeah, no problem, even at highway speeds.

To this, yeah, I didn't have a sport bike, but my Softail Rocker was way more bad ass than my Street Glide, I do miss it. For those that can afford it, and I'm not one, a lot of people really say you need two bikes. One for the road, one for not, depending on your tastes.

Some of you wanted to see this so i got my videos converted to DVD,so i could get this stuff up.I will be working all this week as i have some awesome on board footage, as well, my crash(one of them) with the video camera on board.

So this race is from 2004,and i took 3rd place. These are just our 6 lap sprint races, our 20 lap races took place in the summer time.I am in the 2nd group that starts,as we approach closest to the camera im in 5th place,i was in 1st, to turn 1 only. Most of the footage the camera guy has the 3rd/4th battle correct, but i am the guy constantly behind and chasing the guy down.

I am on my stock 2001 YAMAHA R6,and the other guy is on a new 2004 built R6 he has 117 HP to my 103HP,as you watch you will see him pull on my on the front stretch. At 8:28 you will finally see me get close enough to him to keep the damage to a minimum, as i try to get close enough to get him.At 8:55 i make my pass on the outside of turn #2, this is a BIG BALLS pass.Turn # 2 is 115-120 mph knee completely on the ground turn,it is just a rush. The turn (#8)farthest from the camera we go into it at 140 mph our knees will start dragging at 145 mph,and we exit at 150 mph,you will defiantly see the speed.Fast forward to 39 seconds to start the video.
