There are factors that play into writing people tickets. It is NOT ILLEGAL TO WRITE SOME PEOPLE TICKETS AND LET OTHERS GO. It is called "officer discression." This is actually something that is given to officers. We are NOT required to write everyone we see who violates a traffic law. I mean...we would never get anywhere on the roads if we did. Our cities would become filthy rich, all people would HATE local and state police, and government could have some serious issues. I AM NOT saying what he did was right or wrong. I am not saying I am for or against what he did. I AM saying that we are allowed discression and he let one go. Maybe the guys in the stang and mitsu were both complete jerks and were disrespectful to the officer....I mean....just maybe.... Again, I'm not continuing an argument...only shedding light on some facts about officer discression. Some like it (the guy in the Camaro) and some don't. |

It just ticks me off. Between the holier than thou, I'm allowed to speed, and do whatever the hell I wanna do because I'm an LEO cops, and the crooked ones who left off someone who was more of a danger than the first two, because of the car he was driving all cops are made to look bad. I've met one decent cop, out of a lot of pullovers and tickets, and he was one that gave me a ticket, he was just civil and actually had a good reason to pull me over. And it was a lot less reason than 92MPH in a 55. That pushing double an already decent speed limit. 20 over here is reckless, and he let off a guy doing almost 40 mph over based on he car he was driving. AM I the only one who sees the wrong in that? I'm half tempted to find out where you work zzz, and send a happy lil email over to them, and see how they like this thread. Good thing I printed it off, so that he can't get the mods to delete or lock it for him and protect him.

Officer discretion my ass, the only reason he got off was because he was in a Camaro, any other car and that woulda been a very high ticket, or a go to jail card for reckless driving, with an impounded car.

I know you don't agree with what is termed officer discretion.
But, if you have ever been pulled over and let off with a warning, that is officer discretion. Again, not saying what he did was right or wrong. I won't take sides. We know he posted and finished it by saying "Camaro Love." Nothing against you, PreacherMan. But, if you get stopped, do you feel like you deserve a ticket every single time no matter what the reason, no matter what the explanation, no matter who what when where why how? I'm not defending anyone. But, and again, there IS officer discretion. Anyone who has ever gotten a warning when stopped has experienced it. Those people will not say, "Officer discretion, my ass." |

I've had warnings, but letting someone go on account of the car he was driving isn't officer discretion. Its the same as letting someone know because of who he is, or who he knows. Officer discretion would have said, I let the Camaro doing 92 in a 55 go because he was heading to the hospital with his sick child. Not I let the Camaro go, and the for guy got a ticket. Camaro love. Thats not discretion, thats bull, and I hope everyone reads this and understands its bull. I agree with discretion, discretion would be hes late for work, thats not a reason to speed, or hes going to the hospital with a sick family member, thats a valid reason to let him go. The ford guy and Camaro love comment moved it from officer discretion to hypocritical LEO prone to favoritism.

And thus continues the soap opera that is Camaro5.com.
Don't worry about it. If he keeps this up, the next time he's in trouble and needs police help, nobody will show for fear of getting badmouthed on the internet.

They don't help anyways. I've had a cop sit and watch my pregnant sister carry her two year old daughter through knee deep flood waters after her car got stuck and died, and afterwards had the balls to drive by her and ask if she was stupid for driving in there and then drive off with no offer to help. And I've seen my cousin call about a man trying to force his way into her car when she was 17, and got told that all officers where on patrol, so expect a 30 to 45 min. wait time. And they never showed. I've seen alot more bad than good come out of police officers. To protect and serve my ass, more like to ticket and harrass. I'll stand up for cops when they do something other than break the laws they are supposed to enforce, harass teenagers and lose a little bit of there holier than thou, I'm a cop so you MUST respect me attitude. Most cops have one problem, and thats a major power trip. Whatever, I'm expressing my opinions just as you are, and I can fend for myself, thank you very much, always have, always will. Screw the police

WOW I sure did start a fire didn't I?
Well let me start by saying ...... PREACHERMAN I sure do appreciate what you are doing over there!! Makes me fondly think about the time I spent there while in the Marines. You are serving your country and there is nothing as admirable as that......THANK YOU!!! NOW back to the thread.... The kid in the Mitsubishi had a really bad mouth, and I was beneath him, and his Dad is a lawyer and he would get out of it anyway, so I figured I would give him his shot, He got the ticket he was asking for. The guy in the Mustang didn't say a whole bunch, BUT he has had 8 speeding, 2 redlight violations, 1 Driving under suspension, and 2 crashes resulting in yet two more violations (all within the last 18 months)....and by the way his License was suspended so he got one for that too, and by state law I had to tow his car. 70 MPH would not normally be cause for me to write a ticket ...but...well lesson learned....or not??!! And a little background on me....I have written exactly 8 citations since April when I got back on the road. (Including the two from today) Preacherman, I can appreciate how you feel, but you didn't have enough information to tell me I give Police Officers a bad name. I do my job well and have for quite some time. I served my country well for quite some time also. I am no traffic cop. I make a living helping kids and the less unfortunate. Well just today I did my part to remove a crack dealer from the street and put a guy in lockup that beat the piss out of his wife. Not to mention the mental case that wanted to kill himself that we talked him down to where he was calm enough and we took him to the psych unit at the hospital to get him some help. The title of the thread is something like, TO OUR POLICE OFFICERS...A QUESTION....the question was something like have you pulled over a Camaro?? Well the thread was addressed to me....I responded. It might not be to your liking, but YES I have pulled over a camaro, and he did NOT get a ticket....neither did the guy in the BMW that pulled out in front of me yesterday, or the lady in the old Chevy Caprice that was doing 48MPH in a 25 MPH zone yesterday...nor did the fat girl in the Ford Escape, or the drop dead beautiful girl in the Mustang on Thursday that ran a red light....I don't write many tickets....I won't apologize for the two I wrote today. Thank you preacherman for doing what you do....it does not go unnoticed.
