Not sure on the cut off date for the chains. Probably along the same time the 11s got the pre drilled holes for the strut brace. But to get new chains its 400-500 dollars for a new set plus what ever its gonna cost in labor. Not sure if i would tackle that myself since it is a time consuming install that you need a few special tools for

are the timing chains the things that spin on the pulleys? or whatever you call it?
so why are people so worrieed

The timing chains are under the valve covers so you cant see them without taking apart part of the motor. And I'm not worried about it because at this point there is very little you can do to prevent it. Over time these chains will stretch because of poor design. There have been some people on Caddys, and other motors that are basically the LLT that have replaced the chains up to 3 times. Just ask scrming and adding more performance just makes them go quicker from people's experience
