Dreams do come true
Hello guys and gals!To start this I guess we should have some background information.
For the past 6 months I have been searching for my real first car. I have been driving my grandparents cars to get me to school and back, first a 1998 Lincoln Continental then a 1995 Nissan Maxima. They were wonderful but they were never mine. I have loved cars since I could talk and have loved working on them with my grandfather and uncle, no big restorations just some simple fixes. For my first car I've always had big dreams but I would not consider my family wealthy so the were always dreams. The 5th generation camaro has always been a dream car of both me and my mom but again dream was all I ever thought it was going to be. But here come the changes, my parents divorced when I was 6 so again money never came in bunches but we survived and I've lived a perfect life as far as I'm concerned. Now both my parents are getting remarried so money is starting to free up and now my brother has joined the navy so he is off on his own journey and is no longer in need of financial assistance. Since my brother was given around a 5000 dollar car to drive I was to be given a 5000 to do what I please with it. Now a 5000 dollar car would have been perfect but being the car guy I am I wanted something special. To get something really special I was going to need more money so I got a job. I have now been a proud employee of Whataburger for 8 months and have been working around 20 hours a week. Now that I could afford a car payment it was time to look. All I could think about was a v6 Camaro, they are "fairly" cheap and are great on gas, safe, and wow they look amazing! But as much as I looked I could never get the V8 out of my mind, the way the exhaust sounded never left my mind. So I secretly started looking for a V8. I looked and dreamed until I found one. But first I had to convince my mother (father doesn't live here in Texas so I didn't have to really convince him but I did anyway). She said since I was just such a great kid that I deserved it. So we went to "test drive" a 2010 summit white 1SS with 31,000 miles. Words can't describe how I felt the first time I started it up. Permagrin instantly fell apon my face. This car was going to be mine, and guess what it is!!!!!! Good lord this car is amazing!! Nothing beats the looks or the power! I know some people will not like the fact that a 17 year old has an SS and I totally understand that. I have some friends that would probably wreck my car within 5 minutes of driving it but I'm not one of them. But I love my car so much I never want to lose it like I would have to if I got a ticket. Also it's not the car that makes a teen drive fast it's the person. But before I end this stupidly long thread I have three questions( I've been a long time lurker and I know these questions never get asked) 1.) will a CAI void my warranty 2.) what kind of Mpg should I be getting? 3.) which exhaust sounds the best 4.) do I need a tune if I get headers ![]() Please don't answer these but again thanks if you read the whole thing and I can't wait to be a part of this club! |

Greetings and welcome to Camaro5! That's an awesome story and I'm glad you're enjoying the vehicle you always wanted! Happy driving and feel free to contact us anytime with inquiries. To answer your questions: The New Vehicle Limited Warranty (generally referred to as the bumper-to-bumper warranty) does NOT cover any damage or failure resulting from modification, alteration or suspected tampering, to the vehicle's original equipment as manufactured or assembled by General Motors. In addition, any changes to the GM Powertrain, Fuel, or Emission Systems that involve modifications, conversions, or the addition of non-GM approved products can potentially void the GM Powertrain Limited. Be aware that GM will not be responsible for costs associated with the repair of these vehicles due to failure of the aftermarket installed components or failures of related vehicle systems induced by non-GM approved products. As far as fuel economy goes, your vehicle should get 16 MPG/City, 24 MPG/Highway, and 19 MPG/Combined. Of course these numbers could vary depending on a number of factors such as vehicle maintenance and driving style. William R. Chevrolet Customer Care |

CONGRATS on your ride and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, dad's, wive's, husband's, girlfriend's and boyfriend's here don't care....and take it easy.
![]() oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here. Welcome!!

welcome
cold air intakes most likely wont void any warranties, unless your dealer is a real POS. they don't really effect anything and don't require a tune. the best sounding exhaust is the one you like the most! look into anything from Borla or Corsa in my opinion. and yes you need a tune for headers which will 100% VOID any and all power train warranties. good luck and congrats. P.S. mpg?? LOL dont worry about that. your not going to get good gas mileage but who cares!! enjoy the car and as long as your not flooring it all the time the gas will disappear slower..
