The international version has a 2.8L 4 banger making 180 hp and 346 ft-lbs. If they keep the weight down, that should be a nice combination.

Its just a teaser....but I like it!

I'm more excited about these trucks than the full size trucks. Thats probably because I just sold my 01 Ranger daily driver for an 06 crew cab Colorado Z71. I'm really liking it so far, and I know these new ones should be a huge improvement over the current ones.

With any luck, and if these things prove to be good trucks with decent mpgs hopefully when its time to retire my 06 Colorado, I'll be in a good used 14' or 15' Colorado or Canyon!!

Yes please!!!! The best part is I'm sure 250hp and 400ft-lbs won't to be to hard to achieve. That would make for a fun little truck with good mpg's to boot.

The midsize truck market is dwindling, but at the same time, a bunch of players have pulled out of the market. Right now the only real competitor is the Tacoma, and that's ancient.

GM has a real opportunity on their hands as long as they play their cards right.

If GM won't share engines between the Silverado/Sierra and Colorado/Canyon, what engines will they get?

There's a V6 with VVT. That's about all I know for sure.

From GM CFO Dan Ammann:

Quote:
“The Colorado will be positioned as a sport truck,” Ammann said. “The Canyon will live squarely up to GMC brand promise of professional grade.”

Does GM even sell a V6 in North America without VVT?

+1

Its hard to get excited by another aging GM global platform vehicle re-badged for the US a la SS sedan.

But the Canyon sounds like it'll be the work truck. So...hope springs eternal...
