Need Recommendation for light scratches
I have some very light scratches on parts of my car that I am looking for a good remedy. I have tried the Meguiar's Scratch X but did not really work as well as I would have hoped. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Did you do it by hand or PC, Meguiar's Scratch X worked great me using my PC.

Porter Cable, a dual action polisher similar to the Griot's Garage 6 inch.

Is there anything out there that works by hand?

Most major compounds and polishes will work by hand but honestly the amount of work and time it will take you is not worth the effort. With a dual action polisher it is near impossible to actually damage your paint and will save you hours upon hours. You just can't get the force, rotation by hand that you need. These machines operate while cutting in the 4-6000 revolutions per minute range.

You're not going to make any appreciable difference when polishing by hand, it's just not feasible. A machine, such as an orbital or a dual-action (DA) polisher can move MUCH faster and efficiently than the human body can, even if you are a major bad ass.
Improvement can be made by hand, of course. But if you want them GONE, it will take a machine. Take a stroll though our Machine Polisher Kit section and see what we have to offer. There are videos at the bottom of each kit page as well that will give you more info on the world of machine polishing. |
