But to use a Cloud server, which is what you specifically quoted, you must be connected.

You're right you don't have to be connected just to play games, but if you wish to take advantage of the Clouds boost in performance you have to be.

Personally I enjoy all three, I was even big into the Wii when it first came out back when Nintendo was making games I liked. All three (PC, Xbox, and PS) has their own pros, cons, and each one has their own genres they excel at better than the others.

I can't believe they are still making changes this late in the game. Crazy!

A senior Microsoft executive has revealed that the clock speed of the Xbox One graphics processing unit has been increased. Speaking on the podcast of Xbox mouthpiece Larry 'Major Nelson' Hryb, corporate vice-president Marc Whitten claimed that the speed had been increased from 800 to 853mhz, ostensibly providing a 6% increase in graphics processing performance.

Furthermore, Whitten has claimed that the graphics drivers provided to developers have been updated – meaning that studios should be able to better tune their code to the final architecture of the machine.

"Since E3, we've dropped in what we internally call our mono driver," he said. "It's our graphics driver that really is 100% optimised for the Xbox One hardware. You start with the base DirectX driver, and then you take out all parts that don't look like Xbox One and you add in everything that really optimises that experience. Almost all of our content partners have really picked it up now, and I think it's made a really nice improvement."

Well when you have developers coming out to the public and commenting that your competition is more powerful, you have to do something.

I was surprised by that too. I'm sure the launch titles will be impressive but in a couple years when game developers really understand the new systems we'll be in for a treat.

It will not take that long for them to understand these things. They are using 100% PC parts, so they should be able to push the limit as soon as they launch. I think we'll be able to see that with BF4.

I fail to see how this is any different than the way Steam has been operating for years. And with everyone constantly connected to the internet via phones, PC's and tablets, it only makes sense for the console industry to move in this direction. Even smart TV's, Blu-ray players and streamers need to be connected to the internet 24/7 to use Hulu, Netflix, or Amazon Prime.

Steam also utilizes the cloud, even EA's Origin has started to take advantage of it. Sony is falling behind the times.

How? The Xbone and PS4 aren't always on, and both allow downloads from their online store filled with full games. They also tend to be cheaper with PS Plus memberships. They run just like steam.

I know they arent on all the time. But the argument in the past was the Xbox's always connected to the internet when being used. This is no different than Steam and personally I find no issue with needing a constant connection to the cloud server to play a game.

some of the people that were complaining, were the people in our military, that can't play online, overseas.

First, not everyone in the US can get high-speed internet.

Second, Steam does NOT always need to be on. You can still play the games offline.

Third, I am amazed that so many see so little wrong with having "everything" connected to the Internet, all the time. I guess it is the information security professional (and privacy nut) in me.

So why should the majority suffer just because the minority lives in bum**** egypt and can't get high speed internet?

Even Steams offline mode requires a connection every so often. You cannot play the games completely offline. It requires a checkin period. Granted, its not as short as the Xbox's once every 24 hours originally was. But it still required some sort of internet connection to utilize.

Oh stop with the "majority" stuff already. Majority does not equal right.

Read this...http://www.digitaltrends.com/web/why...peed-internet/

19 MILLION people cannot even get broadband and damn near 1/3rd of the US that can cares not too.

Let us just fundamentally disagree. Once they have the Internet hook in you for basic usage of a platform they own you....not my idea of ownership thank you very much.

why is this being discussed again? Xbone and ps4 are now essentially the same thing.
