I hate when people do this, if you hit a car, own up to your mistake and pay for the damage, don't run away and deny it like a pathetic looser. I hope if anyone ever hits me, they are nice enough to leave a note. You for sure did the right thing

So if the hit and run driver flies into the "private lot" and smashes into my car while I'm in it, injuring or killing me, then what? It's still a hit and run

That is why you call the cops and let them decide always. Hey don't kick the messenger in the balls but this is the real world and as crappy as it is this is reality. Like I said I imagine life and personal property are two different things like in the links I posted there for you.

Update on that if you guys want to know he admitted to it after I turned in the report at the company, they gave him a choice either exchange insurance and pay for the damage or find another job. Around here u can find another job but all of them are half the pay for the most part

Ca cops are required by law to investigate hit and runs and injury collisions on private property. Ca cops are not required to respond to non-injury collisions either on private or public roadways. Some do respond as a courtesy, especially since many drivers in Ca do not have licenses and insurance. Some collisions also end in fist fights between drivers and this also requires officers to respond.
Hit and runs are always motivated by...
1. no drivers license
2. no insurance
3. criminal wants, lack of documentation
4. DUI and other impairments
5. impulsively stupid decision making, just scared and freaked out

In most states the police does not have the authority to enforce moving violations, or accidents on private property unless someone is injured. The injury bumps up the incident to a criminal matter instead of a simple moving violation. They may do an accident report for insurance purposes, but they can not legally give out tickets or anything else that may go on someones driving record if there is no injuries.
