I wan to like the X1....but I just cannot. I do not need the "big brother" eyeball watching my every move. I do NOT need a "media" center, I have one in my Dish Hopper. I do NOT care to have it required to be online.

I am saddened to say, as a current 360 owner, that my next console, if I get one, will be a PS4.

Big brother will not be watching your every move...... If you really are worried you can always turn kinect off.

I have a media center as well.... I like that I will be able to control everything with my xbox.

It does not have to be online..... Only for the initial set up.

Then things have DRAMATICALLY changed since they announced, and even re-announced/updated.

Yea it did and quick. The always online thing was because of their DRM and they got a huge backlash from it. According to Gamestop's VP, they even held a meeting with Microsoft telling them that if Microsoft didn't change this policy before release that Gamestop would cease all advertisements for Microsoft's consoles and games.

Glad I ordered one of each. I'm still waiting to make my decision on which I'll keep if any. May have a system or two to sell on ebay for a profit.

Interesting...

"Xbox One cloud servers offer equivalent to 600 percent AI processing boost, claims Forza 5 team"

"Microsoft already talked up how the cloud component of its Xbox One console will work, but now we're hearing of the benefits from the dev's side. The verdict is certainly positive so far, with Dan Greenawalt, creative director for Forza 5, extolling its virtues, citing it as a "tremendous opportunity" in a recent interview with OXM. His team has been using it to take care of a lot of the AI elements in the game -- such as its Drivatar system -- which he claims would usually take up about 10 - 20 percent of the console's processing power. By letting the cloud deal with it, however, it can spill out into much greater complexity, with Greenawalt claiming a boost equivalent to "600 percent" of the actual Xbox's brains. This, in turn, freeing up the 10 - 20 percent it would have used for something else. Bold statement, of course, but with the early signals looking good, this is one feature we're glad still made the cut."

That's pretty cool. Not trying to start a war but, I think once everything is said and done, X1 is going to be the clear victor over PS4. It just has a lot more going for it.

But it requires an active internet connection and unless things change, also requires Xbox Gold subscription.

Imo, the 600% boost is a vast overstatement. Hideo Kojima gave an interview earlier in July saying that in a recent build test of Metal Gear Solid 5, the PS4 is more powerful offline but when using Cloud, the Xbox is almost as powerful as the PS4.

It only needs an active connection to establish the system. After that you never need to connect it to the internet again if you don't want.

I won't comment on the 2nd part.
