Well I talked to them this morning and the car was going on the dyno and then they were gonna road test it. So basically it's finished. Very fast turn around.

well a bat in the trunk isn't much self defense. there's been a couple people shot here in phoenix last couple of weeks after fender benders, including this morning
Once I get settled into Florida I'll be getting a .40 or .45.

This may sound kinda funny, but the fact that it's a Toyota actually is the root of everything that's wrong with it.

Truck buyers are fiercely loyal. Ford guys don't go to Chevrolet, and Chevrolet guys don't go to Ram. So when Toyota decided to try to take on the Big 3, not only did they make a half-assed effort, they introduced it at the completely wrong time. Tundra sales have always sucked, and Toyota probably lost a decent chunk of change on that investment.

Now instead of trying to improve the Tundra to take on the new American trucks, they've settled into complacency. Their basic philosophy right now is they'll just build Tundras to satisfy the 8-10k or so people every month who are dumb enough to go out and buy one over an American truck. There aren't any powertrain innovations, no frame or chassis improvements, fuel economy is absolutely dismal, ride and handling blows, etc, etc. Toyota has basically just given up.

Toyota's general attitude overall today is actually very similar to GM in the 80s and 90s. "Meh, it's good enough, they'll buy it anyways so who cares."

were they supposed to come out with a new style/generation truck this year? maybe they are in the middle of a cycle? i'm just throwing out ideas, I have no clue about what they are doing. maybe they know they will get crushed, if they bring out a new truck the same time as chevy and ford, so they will wait a year or two, to introduce theirs?

the maximum tow rating of the Tundra is 10,400 pounds, and most configurations with the biggest engine can tow 9,800 pounds or more, even with a crew cab and four-wheel drive--and the Tundra is the only truck on the market to meet the SAE's J2807 towing specification, a validation procedure developed by the industry, including Toyota's competitors.

Nope. They have a brand new model coming out for 2014.

And Toyota's the only manufacturer that actually uses that specification. Which I do applaud them for, but it's not enough to make it any better than a GM, Ford, or Ram pickup.

Toyota should come out with a Space Shuttle themed Special Edition of the Tundra. I`d buy that.
