Dude, set out some rat poison and big spring-loaded rat traps to take care of those pesky "rats".

Three of my Koi have come up missing from my backyard pond... I set out poison for the rats nesting in the bushes nearby... and I set some big rat traps out by the pond. Now one of the traps is missing. Not my fault if a neighborhood cat got caught in it and went running away.

I'm sure the neighbors wouldn't like it very much if you let your 100lb rottweiler run free through the neighborhood, right?

i know some places sell mats that are electrically charged they wont kill the cats but will shock the hell out of them if they touch it. look around online think they are called "scat mats"

On the bright side, being carnivores, they eat birds. :-)
Especially the more feral of felines.

Don't be stupid, don't hurt the cats. Try some of the alternatives and also speaking with the neighbor. Maybe they will agree to not let the cat out at night, which is when I see most of them jump on cars anyways.

My son has a Rally Yellow with Black Rally's.... one of our cats climbed up on his car in the garage and, apparently on the way down, put the claws out and snagged one of the Rally pin stripes on the hood. And yeah, he's ready to go "Vick" on these cats. The worst part is I got him a Noah car cover, but he left it at school in Virginia, and can't cover the car while he's home for a month.

Wow I like how there are so many people on here that won't even bother to take the time to at least walk to the neighbors house and say "hey your cat is getting on my car and it needs to stop".

And if he keeps showing up you can set out a live trap and every time you trap the cat take it to the shelter. The owners have to pay to get the cat back and after so many times of getting turned they will keep the cat and not give it back to your neighbor. cat lives you and no one gets charged with animal cruelty.

I don't know about up there but down here if you know who the cat is for go knock on the door and tell them the problem. The owner has to take care of the problem. Where I live there is a leash law. The owner has to not allow his cats out if they are causing problems.

Anti freeze didn't attract my neighbors cats. Nor did the rat poison I mixed in with the cat food. Something else ate that cause the neighbors cats are still around!!!!!!
If your ignorant towards other peoples property, don't be surprised when lucky don't come home!!! Come on, If I see them, so does the jerk neighbor.
Never tell anyone in the neighborhood if you plan on going extreme.

I think i'd actually stay AWAY from a car cover. i think the cover itself would have more of a chance of scratching the car than the cat's paws. When the cat jumps up from the ground, the car cover will stick better to the cat's paws than it would to the car, so the cover would be sliding across the paint with the weight of the cat on it.

Just a thought anyway.

animal control

find out your local laws, print them, share with neighbor...politely. My nutjob neighbor next door 'rescues' cats and had one that she 'fed' but didn't take in. I showed her the Florida law that indicated that by her actions she had assumed responsibility for the animal but was in fact neglecting it by not providing proper shelter. She either took it in, or she didn't..but she couldn't feed it and leave it lingering in our front yards indefinitely. Property damage is property damage...so step one is getting the neighbor to acknowledge ownership of said animal....otherwise...indicate you will have it hauled away.

Be nice...and follow the law. In regards to animals this is a no brainer.

I'm worse off than you anyway. I park my black Camaro in the driveway... but these trees on my street are outta control. Leaves, flowers, pollen, twigs, spiders... I wash my car one day, and the next day it looks like I haven't washed it for a week.

Waiting on my car cover...
