the really sad thing is i just saw a Ford commercial where they said that "Ford now rivals reliability or Toyota..." Toyota trucks have definatly gone down in reliability since the 80's and 90's

Why is it sad? I think it's excellent news!
Is really that hard to believe that Ford is capable of making some good vehicles? Or that Toyota isn't a God among Auto manufacturers?

it's just that they used to make trucks like the T100 that just wouldn't die and now there making stuff like the Tundra, i mean come on there race trucks aren't even pulled by other Tundras

Fords are decent, but I'm not a ford truck fan. Looked into getting a Silverado back before I got my Ram. Every dealer I went to wanted over 20k for a regular cab(and NO a regular cab silverado is NOT worth more than a comparably equiped F150 or Ram).

SO I went and got my Ram. Pricing is everything, and just like the camaro, if they price it out of the market people will go else where.

Chevys(GM's) are good trucks
Dodges are good trucks
Fords are good trucks (Not my style)
Toyotas are good trucks (minus their large trucks)
Anyone else is just a car maker...

I just dont like most Ford products... the Mustang is the only vehicle they make that I'd own... even the SuperDuty isn't something that I'd own anymore... have you seen what it takes to replace an oil cooler line for the turbos on the new twin turbo SDs? you have to REMOVE THE CAB of the truck... I kid you not.

I love the Dodge Cummins equipped trucks... the body design is so so, the interior is outdated and the reliability of everything but the drivetrain is questionable... but it just pulls soooo well... and the new 6.9L engine is even better than the old 5.9L engine... Dodge is the only other truck I'd ever consider.

Toyota, despite the fact that they are made here in Texas, is losing their a$$ on the Tundra... they're offering $10,000 incentives to buy the truck... if you're looking for a new truck and need one at a cheap price, look into a regular cab Tundra with the 4.7L engine... they're practically giving them away... even better, go get a fully loaded model and take every incentive that they give you and haggle them down on the pricetag... then drive the truck from the Toyota dealership to a Chevy dealership... and trade the Toyota in on a Silverado... blue book trade in value on the Tundra is higher than they are selling the truck for... not only will you get a new Silverado (which, IMO, is a better truck anyway), you'll be supporting Texas and GM... it just doesn't get any more American than that

in 1995, I was looking at different truck brands... I started off at Ford, because I was fairly sure I didn't want one, so I started there so that I wouldn't be skewed by "thinking" the other brands were better or even knowing what the others had to offer... Ford was about to introduce the 1997 model trucks early, and they were super proud of their product... not only were they not doing much of a deal on the trucks, they were running around bragging about how much better than Dodge and GM their trucks were... it was a turn off and I didn't even like the way their trucks handled... so off I went to the next brand on my list: Toyota... they had the T100 in those days... and while I did like some of the features of the T100, what clown overlooked offering a V8 in that vehicle? no V8, no care... sorry, Toyota... off I went to Dodge... and man, those were some good days for Dodge... I loved the "new" look of the Ram and was enchanted with the interior... but they, too, were super proud of their truck... a regular cab, 4x4, short bed was over $24k... no dealing... wouldn't come off of that price... well, that was just a little out of my 21 year old price range, so off I went to my final stop, the Chevy dealership... not only did they want to deal on my '96 Silverado, they let me custom order it and didn't charge me anything extra... gave me GM supplier discount without me having to produce the paperwork... I was impressed... and shocked... I got exactly what I wanted and didn't even really have to haggle... I paid WAY below sticker for the truck and kept the sticker so that I could laugh at it now and then when I need a good laugh.

as someone else said: timing is everything... when you go looking at full size trucks, its a combination of the dealerships in your area, the popularity of the vehicles in your area and what you will and wont compromise on... you will not get as good a deal on a truck in Texas as you would in New Hampshire... its the nature of the market... so your two choices are take the money and run or keep on searching until you find your own needle in the haystack... every brand out there is trying to make a good product, its just my experience that GM does it a little better than Ford and Toyota does... but, ya know, results may vary

The only ford i'd really drive is the focus, well idk about the the 08 ones but the earlier ones are decent cars and are just a tad better than my cavalier with better quality interior.

Regardless, I dont need a truck nor do i want one. I don't want to waste insane gas either. Small cars all the way!

You aren't really going to start this argument again are you? Let's see, you live in Florida, not Nebraska (or a similar or worse climate)...meaning, no winter for you. I'm going to guess that you don't have any kids, but if you do, probably only one.

Sorry, some of us can't get by with anything small.

Back on the topic, I wouldn't buy any Toyota product right now. I don't like them. Their trucks are ugly and apparently depreciating in value even before they leave the lot. Their cars are just bland, basic transportation. Nothing special, and certainly nothing to justify spending any kind of serious dollars on.

I'm not big on Fords either. But, I would consider...if I was in the market for something like this...the small sedan triplets (Fusion, Milan, MKZ). They look good, supposedly have solid quality, nice interiors, decent power/handling and get good gas mileage. The Ford Falcon from Australia would be nice too. Sure I'd rather a G8, but still, not bad. Other than that, I wouldn't get a Ford product either.

is it me, or does ford seem to have a problem with their vehicles catching fire?
