The Corvette is built around a space frame, not a unibody. As such, it fairly easy to remove any and all structural elements from the roof area & still end up with a rigid car, a structural roof would help but its not critical. The unibody of the Camaro acts kinda like one big tube. You can't remove a section without substantially re-inforcing the rest of the car (unless you like having the car bend & twist & flex, in which case it doesn't matter).

Damn...love the numbers on this.

I'd been planning on getting a ZL1, however this car just looks too awesome. I think I'm willing to wait for this, and wouldn't mind seeing what some of the other versions are going to look like.

I've always loved Corvettes, however I guess I wasn't a big fan of the C6 look, so I hadn't ever considered that before.

With the C7 though...sexy car!

I've been wondering why we don't get a targa top. Nice explanation. I would have paid for the option though.

So why is it on the Corvette? Corvette doesn't seem to have any issues with it. If they can do it on a Corvette it can be done on a Camaro.

Many of us would pay if it was an option. I'd trade in my ZL1 with the quickness if it was an option.

So the only way for a Camaro to have one is if they built it around a space frame like you mentioned. In other words it is possible it's just that GM just doesn't want it to have one at this particular time. Corvette is an elite vehicle as well as the Camaro. If the folks at GM can still make a removable roof for the Corvette and still manage to make amazing performance results the Camaro can have the same treatment.

Or they could add a bunch of extra weight (like the do on convertibles) to reinforce things

So just sitting here watching the 24hrs of le mans no biggie right? Wrong they showed the new c7 in a gorgeous blue and explained all the functions of the vents on the car. At first I said black was my choice of color but that blue is simply amazing...

Surprisingly , I like the green. If i could afford a Stingray, i would order it in green with the brown interior.

See answer above. It's not happening.

It's possible but A) GM isn't going to invest the money to create a new BOF passenger car platform and B) revamping Zeta to do a targa or T-tops for one car isn't worth it. Plus it would make an already overweight platform even heavier.

I like it too but not more than Laguna Blue. If you get that green you have to get that color interior. That's a great combination that's been on Vettes and Camaros for awhile.

Holy shit youre a transformer!

So whats a base/non z51 vette do?
And in terms of straight line performance only (only being the key word), is the new vette a better deal than a 13/14 GT500?
