Chrysler changes mind, decides to keep the baby (Viper)

Looks like Fiatsler will keep the Viper. For now.

A lot of people seem to like the Viper, but I'll never understand why. $90k for a car that performs exactly as well as a $75k Z06, but has the interior of a Neon. There's exclusive cars, and then cars that are just rip-offs. No thanks.

I do like the styling though, I'll give it that.

Seriously they'd better up their game if they expect to be able to afford hanging on to it. I see tons of Z06's around and i've only seen two Vipers in my town in the last 4 or 5 yrs.

I love the viper... It has the same power as the vette but looks way way more expensive IMO the vette is everywhere maybe that's why I like the viper so much because it's more rare

viper is a mean car...it is classic....aggressive ....you cant beat it's looks. who cares about the interior of a car that barely even has an interior! lol whoever buys a viper or vette for the interior is out of their mind imo.

I'm just saying when you pay 90k you should get an interior that doesn't resemble a Neon. No, interior's not the primary reason one would buy a Viper or Corvette, but when people are paying 15k more for your car than your rival (which is equally fast), you should at least have some indicator that your car was worth the extra 15k; I'm not seeing it on the Viper.

Dude no offense but your entire premise is flawed. It is exactly the Viper Bare bones, non compromising, no electronic aid assisting approach is what made the viper popular in the first place. The viper is the spiritual succesor to the shelby cobra. Infact if it was not for the Viper constant corvette butt kicking we might not even have a Z06. Remeber's Chrysler Viper teams at Lemans some years ago led by team 'ORECA'. They slaughterd everybody from ferrari to porche and Chevy and won the championship like 5 years straight. The viper is a rare breed, it is extremely 'RAW' in comparison to other super cars. In other words it is exactly the Vipers Bare Bones, no compromising, non super luxurious interor, no electronic aid having, that make it appealing to many. It has a very different personality than most other super cars, also it has a huuuuuge following in Japan.

P.S. Don't get me wrong, I love the vette, but the vette interior is nothing to brag about either. Have you seen the Malibu's two tone interior?

I'm not going to pay 15k more for a car that looks cheaper on the inside just because Dodge won a few races.

No offense (and that is genuinely meant, I'm not trying to respond sarcastically to your first sentence), but it's also flawed to appeal to tradition and popularity. If you're going to justify the extra money, you have to give me more than heritage and the fact that it's popular in some parts of the world.

I was stating my personal opinion on the car, not trying to argue it as a general opinion. My premise was that the Viper isn't a good deal to me because of the interior and the equal performance to the cheaper Z06. To some, the Viper's heritage and no-nonsense approach may be worth an extra 15k (although paying extra for "no-nonsense" seems foolish), but to me it isn't. So my premise applied to only me, and isn't flawed.

I'm still not going to pay 15k more for a car that looks cheaper on the inside just because Dodge won a few races and it has a cult following.
