Hopefully you'll get lucky and get one that received the 100K mile powertrain warranty. I had that on my car and it was 100% transferable, that was the OEM warranty not an upgrade. Check to see if the balance of that warranty is available for whatever you get. 4-5-6-8 cylinders, they are still just air pumps, now if it was diesel you may have a valid concern.

I thought all GM's were 5/100 powertrain by that point. My 09 G8 with 90k is still under factory powertrain warranty....I think it expires in late July of this year.

I think you are right, but does that hold true if it was an 09 sold in late 08?

The warranty starts from the date the car was sold.

Also if you can find out if the lca's have been replaced. That would be good info. I know 08's had an issue with them.

You could since you would know that the most common problems have been addressed already. If not some sort of service history on the car so you'll know if you may have to deal with those potential problems or not. I hope I don't discourage you from getting a G8/GT, but those 2 issues have been a problem for some. However, the car you buy may not have those problems at all.

Congratulations on the little bundle of trouble...errrrr...joy on the way

This would probably come down to price and condition of the car for me. Performance is good for both cars and reviews praise the driving dynamics of the G8. I've posted links to reviews for both cars.

Pontiac G8 GT:
MotorTrend: 0-60 in 5.3, 13.8 1/4mile at 102.8mph
R&T: 0-60 in 5.0, 13.5 1/4mile at 104mph
Automobile Magazine (no performance review but overall impressions)

Pontiac G8 GXP:
R&T: 0-60 in 4.7, 13.1 1/4mile at 109mph
C&D: 0-60 in 4.7, 13.3 1/4mile at 109mph
MotorTrend: 0-60 in 4.5, 13.0 1/4mile at 109.6mph

Good luck with your decision. Make sure to post pics of what you end up with!

I've driven a couple G8's and they were a blast. The car just looks awesome. Especially the stryker blue with black wheels. Instead we have a Terrain for baby transport. It's a good SUV and we got it for the fuel mileage. Otherwise a G8 would have been the way to go.
