Are Dodge trucks still junk?

You can tell by the emblem on the fender. It's a dead give away that it's a 2500.

not on an 01 1500 it doesn't. That's why I believed that it was an 02 because I knew it was a 2500 and the poster said it was an 02. a 1500 in that body style couldn't be an 02 as you know.

Doesn't matter anyhow. I wouldn't have a problem owning a dodge truck regardless of some the small problems with certain years. I would however choose to stick with 09 and up just because they have improvement them so much.

Stick with the GM trucks. I've had my 99 1500 for six years now and never had an issue.

Yes 09 and up are much better... I had a 2007 ram SLT 4x4... My new one is so much nicer... Plus the seats are more comfy...

Well from and actual pre 2009 Dodge truck(s) owner I can say that they are not junk as some here have stated.
My 2004 1500 I got new was a wonderful truck. Never had any issues and did great in the snow and ice. I got Rid of it because it was the 4.7 and I needed more power for pulling my trailer. The biggest complaint I had of it though is that it got horrible fuel mileage. 13mpg average and dropped to 8 pulling my trailer. I have a 06 2500 with the Cummins now and its an absolute tank.
Of course I would expect the newer ones to be nicer and better as they should.

There are good batches and bad batches, but as a former Chrysler tech I can tell you that there are more bad than good of the 4.7L and 5.9L motors out there, Chrysler quality has always been on the lower scope, it has gotten 10 fold better since Fiat took over, but the history of Chrysler from the 1980s until the mid 2000s was hit or miss on quality.

Might have something to do with all those beer and pot lunch breaks assembly line workers take.

Were you a tech for a dealership? problem with that is you are seeing a VERY small percentage of the vehicles actually sold so 1 tech seeing what happens at his dealer. Honestly, check forums and with people I know and vehicles I have had both are very good engines period, maybe for some reason your dealership or area got more of the bad ones, but overall they were not bad, the 5.9 loved the fuel though. Is there a particular issue with one or both you experienced? When my brothers 5.9 was torn down at well over 100k miles the internals were still perfect. From everything I have seen and experienced says you are exagerating, just like if I was to say all GM 5.3s were junk because of the well known issues they had the first few years they were made. Or all Ford 5.4s were bad because of the little well known issues involving spark plugs. And please don't feed me any bull that Chrysler had any worse quality than GM or Ford, i have had plenty of each, especially from the 90s and none of them were great and they all 3 needed work on their transmissions at that time, actually GM was the wiorst, we have had 4 of the wonderful w-bodies that decided to puke their transmissions at just over 100k miles, never had that problem with the Chryslers. Fact is until recently all 3 had spotty wuality problems.

Now that we got that out of the way.

We have a ram, 06 2500 Cummins. Got it new. Great truck. Little issues here and there as with any car/truck. Hope to have it another 10 years.

Good lord - That seems like a smoking deal to me. I can't believe how much used trucks are going for. I'm a couple years away from a new truck, but I think that would fit the bill nicely. From what I've seen of the 2015 F150's, they look like a pretty sweet ride too.
I've been kicking around the idea of a Nissan Titan too. Kind of a two year stopgap truck. They seem to go pretty cheap...probably for good reason.

Yea if you can hit the rebates right the price is awesome.

I posted a while back with a pic of mine, sticker was $41 and got it down to $32K with rebates. And that was on a full 4 door Crew cab Big Horn.

Its all about waiting for the major holiday sales. I used the presidents day sale for mine.
