You can win money from bracket racing? I did not know that. Sounds great!

Haha! Just kidding.. I don't even know how to do a burnout YET lol! Not even perfect at a manual, so it'll be interesting for a little bit But I refused to get an automatic.

I think it can be safely said that if you want a (fast) 1/4 car OR track car you would probably be going with an SS anyways, lol.
I suppose lol and not trying to sound cocky but I beast getting a car around turns. I was going to go to racing school(surprisingly cheap) if I didn't get into my school of choice. Now I satisfy myself going to a go kart place nearby in a rich area, you gotta put on a full suit and everything. I'm still undefeated there but I don't go enough (very expensive).
I know around a course I'd put at least 10x of a beating on the car than a dozen hard 1/4 passes but it does depend on the course I suppose. Such a higher chance of totaling your car around a track too. Even a bolt on V6 Camaro is pretty impossible to lose control of down a 1/4 track but a stock v6 has plenty of power to fly off a course.
If I wanted a fast track car though I wouldn't use a SS or a V6 lol personally I'd build a Fiero GT. I can get a shell basically for free.

Lol V6 Camaro isn't the best car to learn stick on...but I did it lmao.

The 1st to 2nd gear shift will trip up novices because 1st has such an outrageously high gear ratio. If when you go from 1st to 2nd the car jerks a lot, you're shifting too early. To help master it wait until like 3,500 rpms or later before you leave 1st, it helps a lot.

Good luck with the car!

If you want a fast car around a track, the Camaro would be the absolute last car I'd choose for that. A miata is a track monster lol... A camaro... not in the least.

Haha well actually Adam's V8 was the first one I ever drove LOL I kinda got it so I hope I can learn this fairly quick!

And thanks! Also will it matter id I don't have a stock shifter? I have a Hurst short throw shifter.

weeeeeell that's why you do an autocross, worst thing to run into is a cone. Unless the idiots putting it on use a site with a lot of light poles. In which case I'd say F that.

True, but if I want a fast car down the 1/4 a 3,700+ lb V6 with less than 280 ft lbs of tq def wouldn't be my starting point.

No way dude these cars have nice weight distribution and are quite predictable. If I had the proper amount of money to set up and maintain a 5th gen track car I wouldn't hesitate at all. There are definitely better choices in that price range but the Camaro is far from the worst.

Yeah but 1st gear isn't 4.xx! lolol

The shifter doesn't change the gear ratios, just makes it easier to shift. I've never had one though so I couldn't tell you with 100% confidence. You'll be fine though!

Also make sure you check your oil a minimum of once a week or you're basically playing Russian Roulette with your engine.
